What scent do we prefer on our partner?

Ever had that moment when someone walks past you wearing the very same aftershave that your first boyfriend did? Maybe it makes you smile, maybe you feel a tiny bit sick. Either way, that scent has the power to transport you right back to that girl you were.

It’s powerful stuff. It’s why perfume companies spend millions on adverts, promising us that their fragrance will change our lives. There’s various research around showing that people who wear perfume are more likely to be perceived as confident and more socially skilled, and of course there’s that whole aphrodisiac element.

Now, a new poll by Showerstoyou.co.uk has revealed exactly how much perfume helps when it comes to finding someone attractive. Not just that – it’s even gone some way to finding out the best fragrance you should wear depending on your star sign.

According to the poll, which quizzed 1,440 people, 68% of women said they found a partner more attractive if they were wearing perfume, compared to just 48% of men. Equally, nearly a third of women (32%) said they had been put off by a partner’s scent, while only 12% of men surveyed had had the same issue.

The survey also analysed certain character traits associated with each star sign and the fragrance most commonly cited to reveal which perfume might be the best aphrodisiac.

It turns out that Aries men prefer warm spicy and sweet notes on their partners whilst Aries women prefer citrus and fresh spicy notes. However, if you’re dating a Leo man, perfumes with sweet and ‘edible’ notes would turn him on the most, while a Cancer woman would prefer perfumes with masculine spicy and aromatic notes on her partner.

Here’s the breakdown of what scents men and women find attractive when it comes to a partner’s perfume and a few suggestions according to Showerstoyou.co.uk:-
