British Women Prefer To Be Natural Beauties
It seems that British women are finally rebelling against the WAG look sported by celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and reality stars and going for a more refined and classic look.
Britain’s obsession with fake, overly made up and highly-stylised celebrities is being rejected by everyday women who are not being influenced by the way they dress and what they look like, according to a new study released today, which shows if anything, women are going against the ‘WAG’ ideal.
The study, carried out to support the BIC® Soleil® campaign ‘Search for Miss Sunshine’, questioned women on their beauty and fashion habits and found that almost half of all women have no desire to look like a celebrity, but if they had to choose, the classic understated style of Kate Middleton, and the natural Jennifer Aniston look would be their main choice ahead of Cheryl Cole.
The survey shows us that women are rebelling against the current celebrity stereotype of mega-styling and have simply had enough. For the majority of women, it seems the most important beauty regimes are the essentials, washing, shaving their legs and applying light and effortless make-up.
Only 5% describe their own look as glam, while 1% say they are high-fashion. Most women classify their look as classic (25%) with 24% saying their image is of the girl next door.
Despite the rise in popularity of reality TV shows, the British female population are not keen to follow in the footsteps on these highly-stylised, heavily fake tanned TV stars with only 5% of women applying fake tan weekly, with less than 3% having fake nails applied and only 2% applying fake eyelashes.
Even before a big night out, one in five will spend 20 minutes or less getting ready with only two in five painting their nails and less than one in ten fake tanning.
The survey supports BIC Soleil’s scorching summer campaign, celebrating the start of summer by launching an exciting search throughout the UK for four lucky women to represent BIC Soleil shavers.
