We’ve already seen a number of unanticipated surges and trends in aesthetic treatments emerge this year, due to the ‘Zoom Face’ video call effect. This has meant that more patients than ever have been booking in for dermal fillers, botox and neck treatments; after having seen themselves for increased amounts of time via unflattering angles on their screens.

But what does the future hold – what will the ‘must-have’ tweakments of 2021 be, and what new treatments are set to be the next big thing on the beauty scene? If you want to keep up-to-speed with the very latest in aesthetic innovation, read on for our predictions and nominations.

Belle About Town spoke to Dr Paul Nassif – renowned celebrity plastic surgeon, star of ‘Botched’, and owner of NassifMD Medical Spa UK. Here are Dr Nassif’s top three trending non surgical aesthetic treatments for 2021.

1. Treatments to combat “Tech Neck”

Tech Neck is a new term, typically caused by repetitively looking downwards at your mobile device or laptop; which causes the delicate skin on your neck to wrinkle and show signs of ageing more quickly. We can treat these concerns in various ways; with Hyaluronic Acid for horizontal lines, neurotoxin for vertical bands, ablative laser and IPL for tightening, sun damage correction and overall skin texture. We can also use fat dissolving injections for double chin and hydrating skin boosters to improve the overall tone and texture of this delicate area.

2. Combination aesthetic treatments

We can elevate the effects of injectables by combining them with laser/energy devices for tightening. We have seen a big increase in demand for this at our clinic, and expect 2021 to see even more aesthetic treatment and injectable combos.

3. Medical facials

The “new normal” of mask wearing has played a huge role in the increase of skin concerns. We’ve seen a rise in medical facials that address major skin concerns such as anti ageing, congested or acneic skin and a dull or lacklustre complexion. We expect these types of treatments to become even more popular in 2021!

But what about skincare?

Dr Nasif shares his insight and predictions on what the hottest skincare trends of 2021 will be. We’re talking must-have ingredients, skincare layering and results-driven treatments.

 1. Powerhouse Product Combos – Skincare, Supercharged

Combining active ingredients to treat and target specific skin concerns is key in levelling up your skincare for 2021! The key to mixing product combo  is to first understand your skin and what it needs; use products that compliment each other, and get to know your ingredients.

Dr Nassif’s top product combinations are:

Salicylic Acid & Niacinamide – together these ingredients fight acne- causing bacteria and can help keep skin clear and healthy! As salicylic acid is oil-soluble, it can reach deep into the skin’s pores to unclog them; it does this by loosening and detaching the dirt, and impurities that build up over time within the hair follicles. Niacinamide reduces sebum production, and can help shrink pores and improve the texture of the skin.

Vitamin C & SPF – did you know the sun is responsible for up to 90% of ageing skin? UVA rays reach the deeper layers of the skin, damaging collagen and elastin, and causing sun spots, pigmentation, and premature ageing. Using an SPF daily (even in the winter) can help shield your skin against the sun’s harmful rays. Vitamin C is effective at inhibiting tyrosinase to decrease melanin production, so by using it alongside a daily SPF, you can boost your SPF’s efficacy, which means you’re even less likely to experience signs of premature ageing.

Niacinamide & Retinol – Niacinamide works to strengthen the skin’s barrier, and also calms skin irritation. When used alongside retinol, it can help the skin be more receptive to its benefits. Simply put, when used together, these powerful ingredients make each one work harder!

2.  Medical Grade Facials

Designed in accordance with your unique skin needs using medical-grade products and tools. Whether you want to address ageing skin or adult acne, a treatment plan is customised to care for your skin type and concerns.

3. Combining Aesthetic Treatments

Partner your injectable treatments with laser skin rejuvenation to tighten the skin. We have seen a big increase in this at our clinic, and expect 2021 to see even more aesthetic treatment and injectable combos.

4. Photofacials

IPL Photofacials are great for treating pigmentation and sun damaged skin -IPL stands for “intense pulsed light” during the treatment, a handheld device delivers quick hot pulses of light into the skin which breaks down the melanin. As a result skin is left clearer, and with a more even complexion. Photofacials can also be used to treat acne and rosacea.

5. Consistency and continuous use

Results do not happen overnight, real results take time. Stick with your skincare products that contain active ingredients to achieve those benefits. It’s worth it!
