Let’s Talk About Feet: Prepare To Bare

As the sun starts to show more of itself, so do our feet. Having been hidden all winter beneath fluffy socks and inside sweaty boots, those most awkward to address of body parts can look decidedly neglected when summer sandal season (finally) arrives. With English weather, we normally put footcare on the back foot (pun intended) but with better weather approaching it’s time to make sure that our feet look as cared for as our hair and skin do.

It might seem like a stretch, but spending a few minutes on your feet just a few times a week can make a massive difference and like most things, works a lot better if you don’t put it off to the last minute. To help you, we’ve put together a list of products to get your feet ready for summer. All of  these footcare products work best when used regularly and we recommend kicking off your new footcare regime with a nice hot bath, relaxing music and a glass (or two) of wine!

After bathing, give your feet and heels and nice exfoliation with Palmers Cocoa Butter formula magic foot scrub (£3.99). This Pure Cocoa Butter concotion, enriched with Vitamin E and other natural emollients, provides a deep penetrating treatment for the feet. It leaves them smoother and softer, and ready for your next step.

So next, apply some Superdrug Intensive foot lotion  (£3.49). This is lightweight formula is easily absorbed and doesn’t feel leave a sticky residue. Regular use can leave your feet looking and feeling a lot softer that when they first emerged after winter! For best results, use the cream after your night time bath or shower for a few weeks in the run up to a holiday or special event.

And finally, once your feet are nice and soft, apply some heel repair cream. The Palmers Cocoa treatment comes in a stick and is made with deeply nourishing coco butter, vitamin E and other natural emollients to soften and repair cracked and dry feet. Or try Exuviance heel repair – a £28 pot of blessed relief for tired, cracked heels that hate being seen!

For an extra special treat, or when when a quick fix is needed before an event or on holiday- treat yourself to an almond and honey mask for your feet. It takes a few minutes and will leave your feet feeling wonderfully refreshed and smoothed. Can be used as part of a regular routine or one off treat! Pop the sock mask on a leave to work its magic for about 20 minutes, then slip them off and you’re ready to go.

But footcare doesn’t finish with an established routine, you can also protect your feet from further damage and pain while you’re out. We recommend a set of gel pads like these from footcare experts Scholl. You slip them in your shoes before you go out and they take the weight off while you’re dancing the night away. No more blisters blighting the end of the evening journey home!
