Accidentally Wes Anderson Lands In London

For fans of Wes Anderson and his quirky and colourful ways, there is a new exhibition in town you will not want to miss!

Accidentally Wes Anderson – or AWA for short – has arrived in London and is open until February 2024.

Just a few minutes’ walk from South Kensington station, the pop-up venue hosting the exhibition is hard to miss with its pink doors and windows dressed in a typical Andersonian style, welcoming you to a magical emporium with over 200 real-life images on display.

The venture, borne from a passion for travel and adventure, is the brainchild of husband and wife duo Wally and Amanda from New York. Something that started as a community on Instagram has quickly gained almost 2 million followers, and a New York Times best-selling book of the same name followed soon after.

It is hard to believe that some of the images are real, so much do they look like they have been imagined straight out of Wes Anderson’s ever profound and artistic mind.

What is particularly special about this exhibition is that the photographs are taken in real places around the world. Weird and wonderful, and utterly fascinating; it makes you want to visit these ethereal destinations. And that is one of the ideas behind the exhibition – to serve as an inspiration to travellers.

Wally told Belle About Town: “We are so excited to bring this exhibition to London. Our tiny team loves getting lost in all the amazing photo and video submissions the AWA community sends our way, and we can’t wait to share a beautifully curated selection in one of our favourite cities. Our mission has always been the same, since we started AWA in 2017 – to provide a daily dose of delight and inspire a sense of adventure and curiosity for all that wish to participate. We hope this experience can do just that for everyone that visits.”

Each room is carefully themed and narrated, starting with the Post Office, continuing with Classic Façade, Maritime, Transport, Hotels/ Motels, Sports, and Nature, before heading to The London Room which showcases some of the most interesting places from around our wonderful city that you probably have never noticed before. Here, visitors are also able to submit their own photos from London for a chance to have their own photos displayed in the exhibition room itself.

The tour culminates in the Adventures room, with photos taken by both the AWA team and community.

The exhibition is a joyful and playful journey through some of the most surreally interesting places in the world. Whether you are a fan of Wes Anderson or not, the bright intriguing and colourful photographs on display are bound to brighten up these long and dark (and rainy) winter days.

A warm and invigorating bonus. And that’s not by accident…
