Dopamine Land, London Belle About Town

Dopamine – a word that has been gaining more attention in the last few years in the health sphere, is an important brain neurotransmitter, and having the right amount of this feel-good chemical is important for a healthy body and healthy mind.

It can be released through pleasant activities and anticipation of a reward, such as eating nice food or socialising with friends… even shopping.

If you are looking for a natural hit of dopamine, without having to put too much work in, then the recently opened ‘Dopamine Land’ might just be able to hit the spot.

Nestled in easy to miss premises on the the buzzing Old Brompton Road in South Kensington in London, this latest immersive experience aims to help release dopamine in the brain through various interactive, multidimensional and multisensory experiences.

Immerse yourself in the popcorn room

Leave your adult-self at home and let your inner-child run free, on this fun-filled voyage, through all your senses. Happiness, at least temporary happiness, might be closer than you think.

The journey begins in a ‘Popcorn’ room, with beanbags laid out, bags of popcorn to munch on, and to as a visual treat, a movie reel of corn popping showing on a big screen, accompanied by the sweet buttery smell of popcorn.

The journey continues through different rooms, all offering various experiences….of lights, fun dress ups (great photo opportunities with silly costumes and masks), sound, music, a space for reflection and gratitude journaling, as well as a room to relax and feel the calm.

Last but not least, and perhaps the most fun for some, is the ‘Pillow Fight’ room….and it is exactly what it says on the tin. A room filled with fluffy pillows, cheerful music playing, a place where you can really let your fun-loving childish exuberance go!

Don’t forget to stop at the bar at the end, where you can enjoy some delicious cocktails and other drinks. And there are plenty more opportunities for photos… a bathtub filled with coloured plastic balls or an old-school gumball machine, or a game of table tennis, are all there for your enjoyment.

Dopamine Land London is open daily and runs until July. The tour takes anywhere between 30 – 50 minutes.
