Dream Chocolate Getaway In London

crowne 1Whoever said: “There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate”, certainly understood the power of this sweet treat. If you also prescribe to this philosophy, then what better way to treat your nearest and dearest than with a chocolate themed getaway in London. The Chocolate Lovers Dream package at The Crowne Plaza promises to provide a delicious day you will never forget.

Atmosphere: When I was invited to sample this getaway recently, I felt the welcoming nature of staff from the moment I stepped foot inside the hotel in New Bridge Street, London. The ultra trendy yet serene atmosphere is a welcomed change  from the hustle and bustle of the Capital’s busy streets.  Guests, who have booked the package, are greeted with champagne and chocolate tapas on arrival. And if that was not enough chocolate then they are also presented with an Artisan du Chocolate gift box.

Mod Cons: The venue oozes modern glamour with its trendy decor which trickles into the impressive hotel bedrooms. It’s easy to spend your entire day inside the four walls of your room which boosts sleek dark wood furniture, velvety soft sofas, a marble bathroom and super comfy bed. You can kick back and watch TV  or plug in your iPod into the Bose sound dock speakers. And don’t worry if you’ve forgotten to pack your phone charger as there is a docking station that allows you to charge your mobile and is compatible with many phones. It’s not surprising the venue is filled with mod cons as the 205 room hotel has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment. Wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel and a dedicated concierge team are happy to assist with theatre and restaurant bookings. The great thing about the hotel is that it is full of little gems which make your stay feel extra special. As I was getting into bed I spotted  a little box on my pillow. It contained a This Works pillow spray to spritz on my pillow as well as a roll on to put on pulse points which both calmed the senses and helped me sleep better at night.

plaza roomLocation, location, location: If you like to paint the town red,  then this hotel is in prime position to visit many of London’s top attractions. St Paul’s Cathedral, The Tate, and Tower Of London are all a few minutes walk away. But if you fancy a gentle day, then you can  sample food at the nearby famous Borough Market or a shopping spree at One New Change shopping mall. However, the hotel also has enough entertainment if you do not fancy stepping outside including it’s new champagne bar and cigar terrace which are ideal if you’re celebrating. But if you’re peckish then the hotel’s two destination restaurants serving a full a la carte menu will surely have something to satisfy most taste buds. Luckily, you don’t need to look very far for food. If you have access to the Club Lounge at the hotel then you can sip free drinks and canapés throughout the day – including breakfast. Then as night falls the hotel serves you  a soothing hot chocolate – just what you need in the evening to help you drift off to sleep. But if you wake up the next morning feeling like you’ve over indulged in chocolate then you can burn off some calories at the fitness centre inside the hotel. I fancied getting some fresh air, so I decided to jog (ok, I confess – walk) on a trail along the River Thames with breath-taking views of The Big Smoke.

The Package costs £269 and includes bed and breakfast, champagne and chocolate tapas for two, Artisan du Chocolate gift box and warm hot chocolate at turn down.
