Women Turn To Lingerie Over Surgery!
Our national obsession with celebrities and their bodies shows no sign of dwindling, but there does seem to be a backlash against artificial ‘Barbie doll’ beauty. A new survey by French lingerie label, Simone Pérèle has revealed that 74% of both men and women prefer a more natural look, with both the super-slim silhouette of Keira Knightley and the pneumatically enhanced figure of Katie Price being viewed as less desirable than the soft, feminine curves of Kelly Brook.
The internet survey of 1000 people was designed to find out what today’s consumers most desire in terms of body shape. The results also reveal how today’s women feel about their own bodies and aspirations to alter how they look, as well as offering an insight into the pressures they feel from celebrities and their public image.
It seems that given the choice, most women (58% of those surveyed) would opt for clever and effective underwear solutions over surgery with 73% of women saying they would turn down free breast enhancement surgery if it was offered to them!
As much as we look to celebrities to inspire our image, it seems that they are not immune from the horrors of badly fitting underwear. Recent celebrity stories have focused on common mistakes such as ‘cartoon push up’ from tight bras which squash the bust into unnatural shapes, the bad taste factor with straps or clashing bras on show, or worse still, the suggestion of no bra at all with nipples showing under sheer fabrics.
As a result of the survey, Simone Pérèle decided to design a range of bras with the assistance of consulting plastic surgeons. The result is a collection that changes the appearance of the silhouette by combining technical perfection, lightness and femininity. The Aura collection showcases beautiful designs which have been created to sculpt the perfect silhouette whilst providing effective support.
