Fashion Edit: 4 Trends For Next Winter
Kim’s Malfoy moment, Zoolander, Kanye’s debut Adidas show, multiple new directors and Gigi Hadid season, AW15/16 was one of the most talked about fashion months in history. For the first time in many seasons, this year was more about celebrity and show-stopping shareable ‘Instagram moments’ than about bloggers and street style. It was also a season filled with a whole host of new trends that we can’t wait to wear.

That 70’s Show (and a touch of the 80’s!)
The 70’s was huge last season and it looks like it’s here to stay! Besides, we’re not complaining – this look is super flattering and works really well for winter. Flares, A-Line button down skirts and fur trimmed collars all sashayed down the runways of Zimmermann, Derek Lam, See by Chloe, J.Crew and Bottega Veneta. Orange was also the hue of choice for many designers, ranging from burnt rust tones to bright pops of this sunburst shade. But what we also saw emerging was a shift to the 80’s… Miu Miu sent her girls down the runway in wide shouldered jackets and ra-ra skirts. Saint Laurent even played Cindy Lauper’s 80’s hit ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ while his models rocked prom style dresses. Parisian designer Isabel Marant also alluded to the 80’s with sharp shoulders and frilly skirts. You read it here first!

Bohemian Rhapsody
This is a trend we can really get behind… seen at the likes of Burberry and Topshop Unique, boho seems to be making a comeback! It was said that over 100 designers used fringing on everything from bags and jackets to capes. Patchwork was also widely used and was often paired with coloured Mongolian fur for a Kate Moss meets Woodstock vibe.

Wild Thing
It’s nothing very new, but animal print was huge this season. Leopard print coats were seen on the runways of Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. We also noticed a lot of wilder animal prints such as giraffe print at Christopher Kane, zebra print at Celine and tiger print at Dior. Roar!

The New Romantics
Another popular trend this season was a captivating romantic look. Think rich velvet, sweet pussybow blouses, Victoriana collars and feminine brooches. This elegant look was debuted by the likes of Valentino, Rochas, Giles and of course Givenchy’s unforgettable Chola girls. The best thing about this trend is you can really shop it now, for example this season will be all about the humble brooch (as seen on Prada’s models) – pick up this classic accessory now and you’ll be well ahead of the trend.
