The Hiff: The Foodie’s Film Festival in Henley

The Hiff The Henley Food and Film Festival

The Hiff The Henley Food and Film FestivalThere is a new festival on the block and they are kicking off early. The-Hiff is the place to be  for the last weekend in April. No it’s not some new fandangled dance the kids are doing, it’s the Henley International Film Festival and it’s perfect for sentences such as, “Oh, we’re off to The-Hiff this year.”

This celebration of gourmet food and the films that show just how important a good meal can be is the perfect three day event for foodies and film buffs alike. So grab the boyfriend/flatmate/kids and/or best mate and head to the Mill Meadow, Henley-on-Thames Fri 27th, Sat 28th and Sun 29th of April.

For just £10 a day you get a free and healthy mix of food and film, a dash of cheeky cocktails, a dollop of fireworks and a pinch of Michelin star chef talent. Not only that, you can tune into some of the best films at the toasty heated Cinema Cube, where they will be showing every foodie based film you can think of, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Fried Green Tomatoes to What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (Impressive dedication to the cause, Johnny Depp *yum*) And you can watch as many as you like throughout the day all cosy under a complimentary blanket on an uber cool beanbag.

Jhalmuri ExpressEAT!
The-Hiff will be celebrating food from all over the world with over 60 food traders descending on Mill Meadow offering a unique food experience from fine dining to traditional Kolkata raw food. There will be daily demos of street food while the Nosh Cube restaurant dips into the Mexican, Spanish, Sushi, Italian and British cuisine. And the good news, you can take it in with you to the next showing of Johnny Depp! You may also recognise the Love Da Popcorn boys, of Dragon’s Den fame who will be making an appearance alongside Michelin chef, Daniel Galmiche who will be on hand to sign his new book (don’t forget to bring it with).

DRINK!
Not feeling the food demos? That’s OK too, you can lounge at Hotel Du Vin’s Champagne and Tea Party Lounge (we’ll see you there!) alternatively why not hit up the retro Silver Rocketeer where you can enjoy vintage cocktails, both from 11am-11pm. Oh and there are coffee bars, lots of coffee bars.

BE MERRY!
If you listen closely while at The-Hiff you’ll hear the lovely sounds of the Resident DJ from 2pm, with Jazz-y chick, Rebecca Poole taking to the stage at 6pm, don’t miss! Oh, and of course, fireworks! Saturday night is the night for fireworks, so get a hot drink, food and extra layers and adopt the ‘look up’ stance.
