The Back-Up Plan

This movie touches on a very modern dilemma. While finding Mr or Mrs Right seems to take a whole lot longer these days, it seems that women’s biological clocks have not caught up with this phenomenon leading some women to consider the back-up plan of going it alone.

Jennifer Lopez stars as Zoe who, after years of dating, is still looking for the elusive ‘one’. “I thought I’d be married with kids by now,” says Zoe, echoing many women in their mid to late 30s these days!

So she kicks into action her back-up plan which is to go it alone via a sperm bank. Of course not everything goes to plan and just after her appointment with the turkey baster, she meets hot new bloke, Stan.

A comedy of errors ensues when Zoe discovers she is pregnant and tries to hide it from Stan to see whether the relationship really has legs first. When she realises that he is a bloke who has real relationship possibilities, she decides to come clean about the reason she has been acting so crazy and to her surprise, Stan decides to stick with her.

If only things like this happened in real life – artificial insemination anyone?

The Back-Up Plan is in cinemas from May 7th.
