Prezzo’s New Menu Might Not Be What You Expect…

Prezzo has for some time been the posh big sister to High Street pizza chains. Offering a wider menu than many counterparts, and with a focus on varied dietary needs – their gluten-free options have long been accredited by Coeliac UK – the chain has become the go-to for a good value Italian-inspired lunch, brunch or dinner.

So ahead of a West End show last week we swang by the Trafalgar Square-based branch to refresh our memory on all things Prezzo. With 90 minutes before our show – the incredible Drifters Girl at the Garrick Theatre – we were looking for a speedy but tasty pre-theatre dinner.

Despite the bustling entrance there is an upstairs to this venue so we were swiftly shown to a table for two and asked what our plans were. The staff are well-trained to check food is delivered at your pace, be that lazy lunch or a more time-constrained pre-theatre supper.

Having not visited a Prezzo in a while I quickly scanned the two menus (one set, one a la carte) and breathed a sigh of relief – their famous mozzarella parcels are still there, and proving as popular as ever it seems as half the tables around us had chosen this particular starter to enjoy.

There are also a few more plant-based options that have been added to the traditional menu. Through its partnership with THIS™ Isn’t Chicken, Prezzo has turned some of its most popular dishes vegan and vegetarian, including the Chicken Alfredo Tagliatelle and the Tre-Carni Calzone. So whether you’re a long-time vegan or vegetarian, considering a change, or simply fancy trying something a little different, it’s worth giving them a go. The tagliatelle is particular tasty, there’s no chance of meat-missing fomo with that on your plate.

As a final treat to top off the meal we shared the classic honeycomb smash cheesecake. Rich, indulgent, but oh-so worthwhile.

If Dry January felt good, there’s the option to stay dry with two new non-alcoholic drinks – the Seedlip & Tonic is a delicious citrus-flavoured substitute for cocktail lovers, while the Lucky Saint is an alcohol-free unfiltered lager perfect for those who prefer a beer without the hangover.

The West End branch we visited was buzzing, but we didn’t feel rushed and the food was served perfectly both in regards to presentation, timings and taste.

However, for those not wanting to brave the storms outside, Prezzo now offers deliveries, or grab 20% off when you Click & Collect. Not all restaurants are open for takeaway, but you can check if / when your local restaurant is available for delivery or click and collect by visiting www.prezzo.co.uk.
