Soho is steeped in history, and it’s hard to come across a venue that doesn’t have a claim to its fame somewhere down the line. From trailblazing studios to pioneering publishing houses, there’s a story on every corner, and 100 Wardour Street is no exception.

100 Wardour street is a stylish bar, restaurant and live music venue in the heart of Soho, as enjoyed by Belle About TownNow a modern and stylish restaurant and bar, the iconic address was formerly the site of the original Marquee Club, hosting music acts including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and The Sex Pistols. The Marquee closed its doors in 1988 and throughout the 90s, Conran’s famous Mezzo took its place. Cuban hotspot Floridita took its place in the 00s then two years ago it reopened as 100 Wardour Street – a drinking and dining destination for the hippest of Londoners.

Live music nights run throughout the week, and brunch, lunch and dinner are served in one or both of the dining rooms, depending on day and time. But what we find here is not just a fine food eatery, it’s a health-conscious and mindful dining experience, with added pizzazz provided by a showstopping cocktail menu.

Having enjoyed a Cloud 9 cocktail and specially created citrus and gin infusion, we were led to our table by amiable staff for our lunch date. The menu is limited to three choices each for starter, main and dessert, but limited does not mean limiting. The lack of red meat is immediately evident and our server explained that the constantly evolving menu is based around seasonal supplies and health-conscious choices. In celebration of #MeatFreeMonday there’s also a fully vegetarian and vegan menu available every Monday.

Fettucine at 100 Wardour Stree which has a huge range of vegan and vegetarian dishes on offer every day of the week as well as a special #MeatFreeMonday listThe Heritage beetroot and goats curd salad was a combination of light and creamy curd with sweet and firm fruits; The Thai parsnip soup both flavoursome and warming, perfect as a pick-me-up as winter draws in. A perfectly al dente fettuccine with spinach, olives, tomato and basil was both the right texture and the right portion size. No less is more, and no struggling to finish. So may restaurants fill you up with pasta but this dish scored top marks on all counts. The roasted cod loin crumbled as it met the fork and the orange and pecan vinaigrette that topped it served to stimulate just the right response from our tastebuds.

Desserts of vanilla creme brulee topped with raspberries and a chocolate chip cookie, and the hearty chocolate lava cake, were both tasty and indulgent. Our only criticism being a slight dryness of the lava cake.

Be it lunch, brunch, dinner or drinks, 100 Wardour Street can satisfy your needs with its refreshing emphasis on healthy living combined with deliciously indulgent food and drink, all served up in an historic and vibrant setting. Book a table now or find out more at www.100wardourst.com.
