London's Sweetest Masterclass @ Spun Candy

The phrase ‘like a kid in a candy shop’ exists for a reason. The minute you see, and smell, bubbling sugar and bright colours, your mood lifts. So Belle is delighted to reveal that we may have found the sweetest, and perhaps the most exciting, masterclass in London: Spun Candy.

WHAT IS IT?

Spun Candy is the ultimate sweet and special masterclass. You can book as a group or choose private sessions and anybody from the age of six upwards can attend.

WHY GO?

Other than the fact it’s something completely fun and different (where else can you sip on a prosecco, dance, and be enveloped by the scents and sights that you only expect to experience within a candy jar?) Spun Candy is also educational. You’ll learn the science behind the solutions, colourings and setting properties, meaning that it’s perfect for kids, without feeling guilty about the sugar rush.

WHAT GOES DOWN AT SPUN?

We can only speak on behalf of the lollipop masterclass but on arrival, you’ll be asked to make a highly important decision – what will be the flavour profile of your soon-to-be delicious treats. Choices range from traditional favourites like strawberry, lemon and Tutti Fruity (the ultimate fan favourite), through to peach, liquorice and even, when in season, Christmas pudding.

From there, your Candy Master will ask you to choose your candy colours and will get to work mixing the bubbling glucose mixture with the flavourings. You’re in for a treat with the theatre, as the Master stretches out the mixture on hooks and hot slabs to make more candy than you could imagine would come from one pan of sugar.

Then it’s your turn. Time to squash, roll, bend, twist, pull and smash your stretchy sugar concoction and learn how to make a selection of lollipops, all of which you will take home (roughly six to eight each).
