Hitch your Caravan to this top breakfast spot

Hunting for the perfect breakfast it is one of my favourite past times and when Caravan at Exmouth market opened a few months ago, I was really excited to discover another great haunt for those lazy Sunday mornings. I have now been there twice and I can honestly say it is already among my favourite brekkie places in London.

The place is bright and modern with a rustic feel (lovely solid wood tables and wooden chairs) and has tables spilling onto the terrace in the summer. The staff are some of the friendliest I have seen in the city and the food is delicious. I do not think there is anything not to like at this place!

Caravan is usually pretty busy at weekends but instead of queuing for hours outside you are invited to grab a drink at the bar where baristas are hard at work perfecting their cups of coffee. It is also the perfect moment to admire the plates as the waiters take them to tables and watch customers enjoy their food.

I spotted a lovely egg dish served in a metal bowl which really took my fancy, so when sat I ordered it immediately – Baked eggs, tomato and pepper ragout with Greek yoghurt and extra chorizo (£9.00) and oh my goodness it was so good! The ragout was at the bottom, topped by the eggs which were topped by the yoghurt and the chorizo. A fantastic mix of flavours and textures and very satisfying!

The Caravan fry up (£8.50) is also really worth writing home about. The ingredients are top quality with cooked mushrooms full of flavour, crispy sweet bacon, juicy tomatoes and perfectly cooked eggs. There is no better way to start the day.

Other dishes we coveted as they breezed pass included the house cured smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on rye (£7.50) and the avocado, olive oil and chilli flakes on toast (£4.00).

Aside from the food, Caravan is worth a visit just for the coffee alone. Silky, velvety, rich and addictive coffee… They roast their own coffee on site using 100% Arabica beans, blend coffees to match the seasons, use the Rolls Royce of coffee machines, La Marzocco and with a little “Savoir Faire” create some of the best coffee on London.

Exmouth Market is not the easiest place to get to in London but it is definitely worth the detour, the time and the money. I cannot wait to go back and try their all day menu!
