Gingerlines: The Foodie Equivalent Of Secret Cinema
If you’re a fan of food, fun, creativity and immersive theatre then Gingerline’s latest immersive dining experience Chamber of Flavours 3 in a secret East London location should be the top of your must-do list.
The success of Gingerline – a group of food and drink enthusiasts – has relied heavily on word of mouth from visitors to their previous incarnations. And that’s because it’s the foodie equivalent of Secret Cinema – you only discover the location just hours beforehand and have no idea of theme or menu until you walk through each door.
Its cult following means that thousands of tickets often sell out online within a matter of minutes and, although tickets are practically sold out, there are still a few remaining passes available for July.
With Gingerline, it’s true to say that it’s best to expect the unexpected and all phones are strictly forbidden. But annoyingly – particularly because I want to shout all about how incredibly and utterly amazing it is – the less you know about your evening, the better.
It would be like opening all of your Christmas presents on December 24th. But what I can say is, think a starter of Alice in Wonderland, mixed with a main course of Willy Wonka and served up with a desert of The Rocky Horror Show. The immersive element to the night involves a group of intrepid explorers being put together to undergo a top secret mission where they are transported into a different dimension, where nothing is quite as it seems.
A talented crew of actors guide you through the different chambers and help you improve your palette. It’s all washed down with cocktails or bottles of wine which can be bought from the bar before the experience begins.
Within seconds of our experience ending we already wanted to go back down the rabbit hole – this is one experience that leaves the most delicious aftertaste.
