Festival Vibes in the Heart of Camden
Missed out on Glastonbury tickets? Dreaming about Coachella? Don’t throw your wellies away just yet. If it’s summer festival vibes you’re after, you might just find them a little closer to home than you think.
FEST Camden brings Wonderfest Rooftop to Londoners this summer, celebrating famous music festivals from around the world and bringing together a total immersive festival experience to Camden’s Stables Market.
We arrived at the buzzing rooftop early evening and were met by excited looking punters; bars already in a full swing and a DJ playing summer tunes behind a DJ booth instructing “Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat.”
But this summer-long experience offers much more. We enjoyed a night of music, drinks, food, and what turned out to be a trip down memory lane.
Forget long queues, and don’t worry about rain and mud, Wonderfest has it covered, literally.
The roof garden (heated when necessary) was beautifully decked out in true festival style – with artificial grass lawns laid out throughout, flowers and plant decorations all around, umbrellas, lanyards hanging from trees, and even a striking flower wall for the perfect festival selfie.
From our spot behind the DJ booth we enjoyed our first Pimms of the season. The bar which offers a good mix of classic drinks as well as cocktails cleverly themed around famous festivals. We feasted on Wonderfest pizzas and a delicious array of mezzes.
As well as a nightly DJ, there’s daytime entertainment too from various acoustic performances.
For those needing a break, relax at the open-air cinema courtesy of Camden Rooftop Cinema Club where films inspired by festivals and other classics are projected on a large screen. All whilst enjoying Prosecco popsicles or sipping on Espresso Martinis (served on tap) brought to the table.
As night draws in, the music becomes louder and more dancy with a great blend of festival music with old classics, pleasing all the party people.
We were entranced by the vibe and sucked in completely. It was only when we left and found ourselves back in the streets of Camden we realised just how immersed we were in the whole experience.
All the fun and energy of a countryside festival but without a portaloo in sight!
