Fancy Fish at Fancy Crab

Just one of three restaurants in London serving the Red King Crab, Fancy Crab in Marylebone is well worth a visit.

The restaurant is bright and airy, mixing modern clean design with decadent touches. Eve the bathroom is beautiful, with walls decorated with vintage ‘crabby’ artwork.

Fancy Crab might be fancy, but it is also friendly and welcoming.

The Red King Crab is a true delight. Harvested from cold waters far north in the Arctic Ocean and only for three months of the year –
i is never farmed and the restaurant only harvests the males. When caught, the crabs are immediately cooked in seawater and frozen to preserve freshness.

The menu has a rich mouth-watering offering. We settled on starters of King Crab Tempura and Shellfish Cocktail, both superb.

For mains, we shared a portion of charcoaled Red King Crab, which came coated in butter and accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. It was an utter delight, pure perfection. If I had to eat one thing only for the rest of my life, this would be it. The Truffled fries that accompanied the dish were also incredibly scrumptious and irresistibly moreish!

We also shared a dish of Singapore Chilli Crab – chunky crabmeat cooked with chilli, garlic, lime and spring onions, which we enjoyed with a serving of rice.

Washed down with a bottomless Prosecco offer this was a sumptuous feast for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

If you’re not crustacean loving, never fear, you’ll find other dishes on the menu too including salads and burgers – both beef and veggie options are available.

We finished with a Fancy Lemon Tart and a Chocolate Fondant, the perfect end to our perfectly fancy lunch.

In addition to the great food, the service was fantastic too. Our waitress Zsuzsanna not only gave an exceptional service, but was also very knowledgeable about the restaurant and how the food was sourced.
