Big Fernand
Opens Spring 2015
Next spring will see cult French burger joint Big Fernand open their first UK restaurant in London, adding a little French finesse to the capital’s burgeoning burger scene. Located on Percy Street near Charlotte Street, the restaurant will specialise in gourmet ‘hamburgés’ complete with artisan buns, locally sourced Charolais and Aberdeen Angus meat, unpasteurised French cheeses, freshly chopped herbs and homemade sauces by chef Thomas Boutin. Served blue through to well-done, classic combos will include beef, chicken and veal, while a ‘build-your-own’ option enables over 3,854 distinctly French possibilities (they’ve counted). Accompanied by Fernandines – homemade, hand-cut French fries – and a drinks list of red, white and rosé wines, we’ve got just one thing to say: délicieux!

Galadari
Opens Spring 2015
Galadari will bring smart dining to the City this spring with a penthouse-inspired restaurant, bar and rooftop terrace – complete with show-stopping views of St Paul’s, No. 1 Blackfriars, The Shard and Tate Modern. Perched on the eighth floor of Crowne Plaza London – The City, guests will slip in via a discreet private entrance before being whizzed up to the top floor; there they’ll find a luxuriously designed space inspired by a plush private apartment and furnished with rich leathers and bespoke art. A Japanese kushiyaki grill takes centre stage on a menu of modern tapas together with barbecued meats, steaks and seafood. Signature blends, meanwhile, will sit alongside shochu highballs and a collection of Japanese fine whiskies, sake, house-made sodas and a range of Champagne vintages. Sure to be a hedonistic home-from-home.
Smith & Wollensky
Opens Spring 2015
From the Big Apple to the Big Smoke, boutique American steakhouse Smith & Wollensky will open their first site on the Strand this spring. To be housed inside the historic Adelphi Building on John Adams Street, the stylish steakhouse will serve up their famed USDA Prime beef alongside British and Irish cuts – all of which will undergo a distinct and traditional ageing process on-site – as well as their signature seafood and wine. Spread across two floors, the interiors – comprising two dining bars, two main dining areas and several private event rooms – will be courtesy of Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Think a classic green and white colour palette, rich hard woods and antique lighting for a traditional but timeless affair. The knives will be out for a table.
