A Night At The Circus
An evening meal with no distraction where you focus on the company you’re keeping? Not for London, that’s so 2013. Which is why we love Circus.
Completely decadent in its appearance, this Covent Garden hotspot serves an exciting combination of Pan Asian food – created and overseen by Executive Chef Andrew Lassetter – and saucy showmanship.
The night really begins at 7pm. Acts grace the quartz stage (also known as ‘banquet table’) in short sporadic bursts and the atmosphere switches from relaxing restaurant to a circus show with the drop of a shutter. During our visit, we saw a hoop artist wiggle more than Shakira, an aerial acrobat who could do things with pieces of material that even Christian Grey couldn’t and an act that would send the hearts racing of those experience a foot fetish.
Now, enough of the entertainment, let’s move onto the food. The circus crackers with a chilli, garlic and plum sauce are perfect to nibble on as you settle down but when it comes to the main, we can’t speak highly enough of the Black Angus fillet with shiitake mushroom, asparagus & caramel soy and the blackened cod. Both dishes are bursting with flavour and there’s no risk of the food taking a backseat for the entertainment, or vice versa. These two come in equal and ample good measure.
So, when to take a trip to the Circus? A trip here will definitely cause a bit of a dent in your bank account but it’s totally worth it. Celebrations, stags and hens are top customers here but we’d recommend a night here with friends if you simply want some really good food and some really good fun.
