BLOOM & the City
Summer is finally on its way, undoubtedly giving us a heads up to sip refreshing cocktails until the sun goes down. I always find myself with the same drink in hand, so I was more than happy to accept an invitation to try a new selection of cocktails at London’s One Aldwych hotel.
The luxurious five-start hotel sits in the heart of buzzing Covent Garden, a walking distance from London’s theatres and street performers. Voted as one of top five hotel bars in the world by the Sunday Telegraph, The Lobby Bar felt world-class in every sense. The room is a wonderful collision between history and modern, with shiny floors and high ceilings, and beautiful large windows letting in enough light, yet still managing to retain an intimate atmosphere. Grandiose artworks and avant-garde flower designs filling up the space – if my drink was going to be created with such expertise and precision, I was in for a treat.
The cocktails menu is extensive, prepared by the rather skilled mixologists, who will also happily create ‘off the menu’ drinks – so just ask, nothing seems a bother at The Lobby Bar.
The four new limited cocktails are all prepared using BLOOM Gin and priced at £13.50 each. They are part of the “High Spirits” menu, which changes every few weeks and features new spirits every time. I must admit, these were the pretties looking drinks I have ever laid my eyes on. And my lips for that matter.
My drinking partner and I started with the rather heavenly “The Lavender Cloud” and “Blooming Tea”, both utterly delicious and refreshing. The “Almond Bouquet” is a marzipan heaven and the “Smoked Flower” will definitely not leave you fuming.
The service was flawless, and came with a friendly smile from Madalena who looked after us, as well as an endless supply of nuts and olives.
These immaculately presented drinks are sure to satisfy even the biggest drink critic. But be quick, as they are here for a limited time only, available until 14th July. So ladies, get your frock on and get yourselves some BLOOM this summer.
