The Hale Clinic: Harley Street’s Holistic Haven

The Hale Clinic in Harley Street is a hub of holistic therapists and boasts more than 80 practitioners of conventional and complimentary medicine.

The popularity of holistic health treatments has grown rapidly over recent years, with the term referring to myriad treatments on offer that don’t follow regulated medical avenues. But despite the complex nature of explaining exactly how holistic approaches work, the definition of holistic is surprisingly simple. Taken from the Greek word holos meaning whole, holistic treatments focus on the overall health of a person – encompassing their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

It is with this in mind that the Hale Clinic in Harley Street approaches its business. Establishing itself as a hub for holistic therapies, the clinic boasts more than 80 practitioners of alternative medicine. Many are also medically trained and a large sum are leaders in their fields.

Opened by Prince Charles in 1988 and boasting former clients including Princess Diana, The Duchess of Cornwall and Kate Middleton among many others, the clinic boasts more than 80 practitioners who offer everything from Ayurvedic massage from leading consultant Angela Hope Murray to Bioresonance scans and bespoke vitamin infusions by established neuropathic doctor Katrin Hempel.

Katrin’s London Natural Therapies clinic offers Bioresonance scans to diagnose issues that have not yet been detected by orthodox methods. She offers infusions to boost weak immune systems, combat specific illnesses, and boost emotional and physical strength. An infusion takes as little as half an hour and its effects can dramatically improve both physical and mental health for the patient. The clinic also offers PRP/PRF natural aesthetic beauty therapy for facial rejuvenation and repair of tissues/ligaments. Using the latest technology Katrin utilises the clients own blood to dramatically reduce wrinkles and improve facial firmness and skin complexion.

Belle About Town visited the clinic to find out more about what is on offer and how it managed to establish itself as London’s leading hub for holistic treatment.

Spread over two floors in an expansive townhouse just off Cavendish Square, the clinic is bright and welcoming, and offers complimentary herbals teas and mineral waters to clients as they await their appointments.

The Hale Clinic’s founder Teresa Hale was a pioneer in the field of complementary medicine since 1982. At this time its potential was not fully realised and Teresa felt the way forward was for complementary medicine to take on a more professional image and work in cooperation with orthodox medicine. Her strong belief was that ‘no one system system of medical one has the whole answer to our myriad of health problems’.

In 1987 Teresa opened The Hale Clinic in Regents Park. It was formally opened by The Prince Of Wales in 1988 and was the first clinic in UK to combine conventional and complementary medicine.

The model Teresa created has been replicated in many hospitals, private and state clinics in the western world, but The Hale Clinic remains the go-to place for those in-the-know. Having changed the face of complementary medicine, shortly after the clinic opened Teresa was nominated as one of the most influential women in the UK at that time.

Teresa Hale continues to be at the forefront of innovation. She sees developing correct diagnostic models as vital in helping the patient find the correct combination of therapies for them. In this way not time is lost in finding the correct formula them to achieve good health. The clinic is now run by Beena Menon who has been mentored by Teresa for more than a decade.

Beena is the face and the heart of the clinic and welcomes visitors warmly before explaining exactly what is on offer and what they can expect. She discovered the clinic 19 years ago when her son was very ill and she found conventional routes were not providing enough support or answers.

She says: “I have grown with the clinic and it is part of me. I consider it my third child! We are proud of our integrated approach to health, understanding that orthodox medicine and complementary medicine can work together for the benefit of the patient. “No one approach is the answer to every medical health problem. This is why we have the widest range of complementary therapies in Europe practising with holistic medical doctors. We look at health from a physical, emotional mental and spiritual perspective depending on what the patient feels is relevant for them.  We see prevention and early diagnosis as a key factor in maintaining optimum health.”

A full ‘MOT’ can be offered by the clinic, with scans to evaluate, diagnose and predict health problems, and solutions ranging from intense physiotherapy and counselling to release therapies, homeopathy and kinesiology.  We met Dr Anu Arasu who specialises in biodental hormones and consults on hormone balances, how they affect every aspect of a patient’s life, and offers treatments and advice, both orthodox and holistic, to re balance and settle the body. She addresses fertility, menopause, anxiety and debilitating illnesses with her knowledge and is an authority in her field.

We then experienced an incredibly reviving and spiritual session with Maria Beremovich, an intuitive healer who uses a  method  of hands-on healing with very specific breathing techniques and body awareness exercises. With this Maria creates a powerful, yet natural, field of healing energy.

Maria also offers the unique Cosmo Energy Healing which recognises 40 different frequencies for a wide range of illnesses from asthma to allergy to back problems. A specific frequency is used to heal each specific illness, and Maria says she has had success with hundreds of patients, who travel from across the globe seeking treatment from her.

We return back to Beena, and she adds: “The Hale Clinic has established itself as a haven for holistic therapies and we are developing and growing all the time, within ourselves and with what we offer to our patients. In the future I would see the Hale Clinic becoming very involved with how the body renews and regenerates itself, this is the next natural step for us. We will use functional medical tests for early diagnoses of health issues and use a combination of holistic medicine and therapies to maintain optimum health.”
