Icon shopping mall at the O2 in Greenwich is now open by Belle About Town

Once the proposed site for a ‘supercasino’, a brand new state of the art shopping mall has opened at the O2 complex in Greenwich. Prior to the opening, there were no shops on the site and a completely unused upper level, which has now been converted into a multitude of brand name stores

To celebrate the opening of these 85 brand new stores, a launch party was held last month, prior to the outlets officially opening their doors on Saturday. The VIP party was hosted at NY-LON with the constant popping of champagne corks and various musicians playing in and around this exciting new venue. There was certainly a great atmosphere, and you could feel the Christmas vibe in the air.

Rubbing shoulders with celebrities was as easy as saying ‘hi’ to your neighbours, and the usual selection of VIPs included those from the realms of reality TV, acting, music, modelling and the customary popular DJ’s. Top notch music to match the occasion was chosen by DJ Vogue Williams, who made sure that the dance floor was packed with willing participants to strut their stuff.

Who was there? The list was endless. MIC participants such as Jess Woodley, Al Alfus and Nicola Hughes took time out of their busy TV schedules to party along with girl band M.O, singer Tallia Storm and actresses Tina Stinnes (Love Island) and Georgia Hirst (Vikings 2013 and Ravers 2018). With such a large turnout, it was difficult to spot everyone there! DJ and TV presenter Ashley James had a long career in reality TV, having participated in Big Brother and MIC in previous years. Somewhat of a battle of the reality stars!

If you are planning on Christmas shopping under the Icon’s tented roof with a break for lunch in one of the new and varied eateries, you couldn’t go far wrong with spending your time and money at this new complex. A comprehensive selection of great shops and restaurants provides almost a days’ worth of entertainment. Beauty outlets such as The Cosmetics Company Store and The Body Shop, shoe shops such as the popular Skechers, Hobbs, Kurt Geiger and Cheaney Shoes, plus clothing retailers Phase Eight, Gap, Gant, Crew Clothing, Levi’s and Pepe Jeans are just a small selection of what’s available to you and your pocket.

The Icon is well located using public transport and just 15-minutes from central London, served by the Jubilee Line, MBNA Thames Clippers and the Emirates Air Line. and combines city living with live entertainment opportunities.

In the spring, there is a ‘musical immersive dining experience’ based on Mama Mia which is sure to be a major attraction.
