Mind & Movement in Mayfair as X-Club Branches Out
It feels like the world has been singing praises for Reformer Pilates for some time now, but I have always politely shrugged off the idea. I am that person who has never been crazy about Pilates; Yoga is my love affair. But when yet another friend raved about her amazing experience on the Reformer and urged me to try it, I decided to give it a go.
And what better place to break my Reformer Pilates seal than at the latest branch of the X-Club at Mayfair’s V Health Club? The newly opened branch has found its home at one of the finest and smartest addresses in London, no other than the Berkeley Square.
Built on four key pillars – Mind, Movement, Nutrition, Therapy, the X-Club offers first-rate Pilates and Yoga classes, as well as luxury fitness and gym, and wellness facilities, including sauna and cold plunge.
Amanda Baracho, Co-Founder and Master Trainer at X-Club said, “We are overjoyed to have opened our fourth location, and cannot wait to share our complete Pilates method on state-of-the-art equipment, with new classes added to the methodology to progress and challenge members old and new.”
I arrived at the very lavish Berkeley House on a rainy evening, wind-swept hair, and I checked myself in a mirror to make sure I looked somewhat presentable, before entering the hotel-like building. I announced myself at the reception and was directed to the lower ground floor to the X-Club. I made my way to the smart-looking changing rooms, which were kitted out with everything anyone could need for their workout.
My first Reformer experience was with Demi, and with just one other client in the class, it was a very intimate and personal experience. Reformer Pilates involved working out with a machine with different springs and various weights, which I thought could be a little daunting but Demi put me right at ease.
I fell in love with Reformer there and then. Yes, it was tough, tougher than I expected, but it felt like I worked every muscle in my body. There were moments when I wanted to stop, but I pushed through, and it felt so good.
I left the session with wobbly legs, but somehow lighter. With endorphins flooding my brain, my mind felt clearer.
There is a range of classes available throughout the day, including early morning, lunchtime and after work sessions, lasting 50 minutes.
With locations in West and Central London, and soon to open in Stratford, East London, the club is easily accessible. I am definitely a Reformer convert, and I’m sure you will be too.
