A 360 Approach to Wellbeing for Londoners
When it comes to keeping active and fit, yoga has always been my ‘go to’. I’ve always been dodging any hard-core endurance types of exercise, and you would never find me in a spin class.
But deep down I knew that I needed to do something else to get my heart racing other than a 50% sale at my favourite clothing store.
A recent invitation to visit the 360Athletic gym near London’s Victoria felt like the perfect opportunity for me to test my limits and my commitment.
Launched in 2018 by Ben West, a leading personal trainer and Jordane Zammit Tabona, a professional physiotherapist, 360Athletic is a small boutique gym offering a true 360-degree approach to care and support and tailored personal training; from small group personal training sessions to nutrition and physiotherapy support, as well as fitness coaching to help achieve clients’ fitness goals.
I arrived bright and early at the studio, albeit a little nervous. But I didn’t need to be nervous for long – our trainer Ollie made me feel very welcome and at ease, and the session that followed was fun and accessible.
The training sessions at 360Athletic are led in small groups, usually of three people. I found this to be the perfect balance – I’ve always felt a little intimidated by the idea of a one on one training session, and training with two other like-minded individuals offered a feeling of support and community, whilst still feeling personal.
The session started with a set of warm up exercises and continued with a plan that was carefully designed to work the whole body using the body’s own weight as well as various free weights, dumbbells and other equipment in short repeated intervals, with an appropriate rest in-between.
The hour flew by.
Did I sweat? You bet I did. Did I love it? Absolutely! I left the session full of energy and an undeniable sense of pride. I didn’t expect to get through the session without some kind of an embarrassing moment (if you’ve seen a Bridget Jones movie you know what I mean) but I did and what’s more, I felt empowered, strong and once again I proved to myself that we can do anything we put our mind to.
The training plan changes weekly, offering variety and an overall 360 workout. As well as small group sessions, clients also have the option to attend larger group sessions for extra support should they wish.
Upon joining, each client receives a complete movement screening and nutritional consultation, as well as a copy of the “Nutrition Bible” – a book written by Ben that offers a nutritional advice and support, and plenty of great healthy recipes to help support a healthy lifestyle.
A membership starts at £269 per month and there are various packages on offer.
360Athletic is offering a 30-day trial for £149 and includes movement screening, 10 small group personal training sessions, unlimited fitness classes and a copy of the “Nutrition Bible”.
