The champagne flutes are empty, the festive lights are boxed away, and now the New Year lies ahead of us. But let’s be real – by the first week of February, our life will somehow lose all the enthusiasm we started with. The hustle is creeping back in and those big New Year goals start to feel, well, just a little bit too ambitious.

But what if 2025 was different, and actually became our most productive year? What if this became the year you actually take back your time and energy, not by working harder but through smoothness, balance, and systems that really work?

We often equate being productive with working harder, but according to Time Efficiency & Productivity Coach Claudia Romero, this doesn’t need to be the case. Belle About Town spoke to Claudia and asked her to share her top tips for having your most productive year yet. Claudia has formulated the “SOUL system”- Simplify, Organise, Understand, and Leverage. She says: “Think of it as your strategy for making 2025 your most productive year yet. Without the burnout and the overwhelm.” Here’s what Claudia told us…

Simplify – The Art of Editing and Decluttering

January is a month of new beginnings – and we always start with good intentions and promises that this year WILL be different, but this usually comes with loads of “should” – we should do more of…, should work harder, should do more exercise, etc – and by the end of January, we feel that we haven’t achieved what we set out to do and feel deflated.

To be honest, productivity is not about adding more to our lives, it is all about understanding what we need to focus on and how to do that well. It’s about curation and how we use our time effectively.

This is the time for your life edit, looking at your schedule and commitments with brutal honesty but also giving yourself grace.

Ask yourself:

 • Will this help me achieve my goals?

 • Does it increase or decrease my happiness?

• Will it drain my energy up to the point I won’t be able to keep going?

Instead of focusing on resolutions, focus on intention. A short list of meaningful tasks will seem more attainable and sustainable than a big list of ambitious goals. And you can use it to set the tone for your year.

Pro Tip: Start with your digital life, whether it’s emails, apps, or endless reminders. Doing this will help you to feel prepared for everything else you want to focus on.

Organise: Getting Your Systems In Place

Organisation is not just about function-it’s about style – and lifestyle. A beautifully curated planner, a sleek app, or even a gold-accented wall calendar can make planning your day feel like a luxury, not a chore. And when you start to do it consistently it will become second nature.

One of the most powerful tools you can adopt is the quarterly reset. Every three months, take a day to:

•           Reassess your goals and set new ones

•           Tidy up your digital and physical spaces

•           And of course, check the 4’Ds – What you need to keep doing, what can be delayed, what can be delegated and what can be dumped (or deleted)

Also, and this is a must that you should start practising from today: Schedule time for yourself every day—it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, a solo coffee in your favourite café or a walk in the park should do! And once a month reward yourself for your wins with a longer date with yourself (because you are the most important person in your life) – whether it’s a spa day, a city break, or a nice shopping spree!

Organising your time shouldn’t feel clinical. Treat it like designing a life you’d want to step into every day.

Understand: The Power of Alignment

By March, that New Year’s glow has worn off, and we’re all wondering, “Why did I create half of these goals?” And that is where the understanding comes in.

Again, true productivity doesn’t come from doing more; it comes from doing what aligns with your core values and goals. Ask yourself:

• “What truly lights me up?”

• “Which goals still feel relevant, and which can I let go of?”

• “Am I honouring my own energy—working when I’m at my best and resting when I need it?”

And so many other questions that with honest answers you can see what truly matters and where you should put your focus on.

When you’re clear on your priorities, every task feels less like a grind and more like a step toward something meaningful. That’s when productivity starts to feel like flow—and it will feel more effortless.

Leverage: Outsource Like a Pro

It’s important to balance work life with personal life, so that you have time to spend with the family, take holidays, and focus on what’s important outside of your work. But how do you create that elusive work/life balance?

The answer lies in leveraging your strengths. This means knowing when to delegate, automate, and then step back.

• Automate the Small Stuff: Let technology do all the reminding, pay those recurring bills, and yes, even order your weekly food shop.

• Confidently outsource: Be it hiring a cleaner or delegating at work, remember, you don’t have to do it all, and micromanaging will definitely lead you to burnout…trust the people you hire.

Leverage is about doing less, not more so that you can focus your time where it counts. After all, wouldn’t you rather spend your weekend spending time with friends or family, rather than stressing over spreadsheets?

The Importance Of Reflection for a Productive Year

December is the season of sparkle but it is also the season of reflection. Before you dive back into the whirlwind of parties and present-buying, take time to reflect on your progress.

• Reflect on your wins. Big or small, they matter.

• Plan a treat for yourself—a new handbag, a day trip, or even just a dinner at your favourite restaurant.

  • Set intentions for 2025. That’s the beauty of being productive-habits built this year will carry you into the new year with ease.

Time is the ultimate luxury and our most important and valuable resource, and in 2025, you have the chance to take control of it not through sacrifice, but through intention and joy.

Simplify, organise, understand, and leverage your life into something extraordinary. Because productivity isn’t about fitting more stuff in. It’s about making space for what matters most.

Here’s to your brightest, most balanced, and most productive year yet.
