Parading A New Sound

There’s a new girlband on the block who can sing; aren’t divas, get on well with each other and haven’t all got honeyed highlights. Such an entity doesn’t exist! Well, actually, it does in the form of Parade, the latest girlband on the block who are on the cusp of big things.

Since its release their debut single Louder reached number 5 in the iTunes download chart and they’ve toured with Shakira, Alexandra Burke and are currently on the road with Shane Ward.

Signed with Atlantic the band – Sian Charlesworth, Emily Biggs, Bianca Claxton, Jessica Agombar and Lauren Deegan are part of a new wave of female popstars who aren’t all about looks, celebrity and knowingness: think the freshness of the Spice Girls (Mel C happens to be a fan) when they first hit with the edge of Jessie J.

Yes, they’ve been ‘manufactured’ and had to audition to be part of the band (albeit off-camera and without the emotional ‘journey’) but they seem to be in it  for the music, performing and having fun. And isn’t that what pop is all about?  Let’s hope the manicured fingers of fame don’t rub off any of their charm.
