Paloma Faith: Truth and Beauty

This new London singer seems to be a cross between the soulful depth of voice of Amy Winehouse with the retro feel of Duffy. Her sense of performance comes from her background on burlesque and although she doesn’t quite challenge Lady Gaga for this crown, she does add a theatrical edge that is reminiscent of Dita Von Teese and adds colourful storybook visuals of the 1950s.

The debut album Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful has already spawned four singles. Stone Cold Sober, a rocky track, was followed by the soulful  title track Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful, New York is a sombre tale of love lost and her most recent single is the quirky and pop-like Upside Down.

But despite being more sophisticated than traditional pop, she has hit the mark with commercial success. While her initial singles may not have made it to the number one slot in the single charts, Stone Cold Sober was featured in a Rimmel commercial, another song, Technicolour , was used for a Samsung ad so it is only a matter of time before chart success follows.

Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? by Paloma Faith is out now.
