Get Crafty This Easter

With Easter fast approaching there is no doubt that we will be indulging in our fair share of chocolate eggs and enjoying the four day weekend – hopefully in the sunshine. But it is also a fabulous reason to get the family together, brighten the house with some decorations and start some new family traditions for this spring holiday.

The web is full of ingenious ideas for showing you how to decorate you home for holidays such as Easter so we’ve rounded up ta few of these clever clogs that we found on the web. If you make any of them or have any ideas of your own, let us know!

Baby Chick Wreath

Catherine Davis of the Design Editor blog gives a really simple tutorial on how to make this very cute wreath. We have seen packs of the chicks at Poundland so it needn’t cost a lot either!

Silk Dyed Eggs

Forget dip dying or painting eggs, how about transferring silk patterns onto your eggs this Easter! Sara Wells and Kate Jones run a website called Our Best Bites and Sara give a great tutorial on just how to achieve this look. You need 100% silk fabric to achieve this, but rather than cut up your partner’s best Christian Dior tie, start looking for silk ties, shirts or scarves at your local charity store now!

Bird’s Nest Cookies

Kara Cook has a cute little site called Creations By Kara and her cookies will entice the young and the young at heart this Easter. Go to her website for the recipe and directions to make your own!

Egg Shell Decorations

When cooking or baking this week, instead of breaking the eggs in half, just break the tops off and then you can use the shells to help create some wonderful table decorations for Easter. Crystal Owens shows you how to make these wonderful lavender eggshell candles on her blog A Pumpkin and a Princess – and they’ll make your house smell wonderful too.

  • Belinda Wanis, aka Miss B, is a Belle About Town who likes to bring a little bit of style into every aspect of her life. An experienced journalist with over 20 years in the industry she turned to the web, creating Belle About Town in early 2010, to fill a gap for tech-savvy stylish women who want the best life has to offer at their fingertips. She loves a decadent cocktail bar, a beautifully cut dress, cultural getaways, quality over quantity and is partial to Asian-fusion food. A globetrotter, who has lived in Australia, the UK and Denmark, she enjoys holidaying in the sun and you can often find her on a beach in Thailand or on shopping breaks in Sydney or New York. But her first love is, of course, London!
