random-chef-Slim

Fed up of  hunting high and low for exotic food ingredients essential to that recipe you’re using to wow your friends, family, potential new love?! It’s a common problem that there’s always one addition needed to really perfect that dish that you just can’t find without travelling from Southall to Stratford and stopping at all the food markets in between. But this month saw the launch of World of Zing, the UK’s first contemporary food and drinks emporium, promising to provide an inspiring array of produce and ingredients reflecting the flavours of modern food culture.

With a family heritage of almost 50 years supplying the finest herbs, spices and specialist ingredients for the UK’s most discerning chefs, owner Pritesh Mody has launched World of Zing to provide consumers with the wide array of essential ingredients and produce that echo contemporary eating and drinking habits. The World of Zing range brings together produce from the country’s most exceptional food and drinks artisans alongside the finest spices, herbs and seasonings, essential for recreating dishes from around the world. Everything a busy Londoner needs to create that perfect dish, all found in one place!

Pritesh told Belle About Town: “through my work in the food industry I’ve noticed an increasing disconnect between the eating habits of the adventurous food community and the produce available in the retail environment. Many of the products we find in the food market scene have now become staples of our everyday culinary lives; for example some chilli sauces are now valued as essential as tomato ketchup by many home cooks.

“I wanted to create World of Zing as the first business to truly bridge this gap. We are delighted to offer aspiring food and drink artisans a platform for showcasing their produce whilst also giving consumers easy access to these exciting products plus the finest quality ingredients.”

With a career as a drinks marketing consultant and creator of a popular online food and drink magazine, Pritesh has been at the forefront of identifying and analysing culinary trends for more than ten years. As a third generation member of the family behind Gandhi Oriental Foods, he has clearly developed a thorough understanding of the importance of quality ingredients and much experience working with producers and chefs.

He adds: “Customers can expect to find everything they need to add a touch of ‘Zing’ to their home dining at World of Zing. We sell everything from tongue-tingling BBQ sauces made by the most popular street food vendors, Peruvian chillies, Middle-Eastern spice mixes and even more fun items like bespoke popcorn seasonings. Drinks fans are equally catered for, with a carefully curated range including Stellacello Grapefruit liqueur and BTW – Bermondsey Tonic Water, the UK’s only natural tonic water!”

worldzingWorld of Zing, which has a 5000 square foot warehouse in Mile End, and stalls at Brockley and Wapping markets each weekend, has also partnered with leading flavour experts to develop its own range of products including a rare chilli sauce in collaboration with The Ribman; and a handmade batched and barrel-aged cocktail programme with consultation from the internationally renowned Fluid Movement bar team.
