Britain’s Got Talent is back!

Normally I am not a huge fan of reality shows as they seem to consist of untalented fame whores who are desperate to become Z-list celebrities and hang out at Essex nightclubs. However, there are still some genuine talent shows out there and they have usually got Simon Cowell connected to them in some way!

You must be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Susan Boyle, the sensation from last year’s Britain’s Got Talent. Her star status has skyrocketed since almost being laughed off stage before she had even opened her mouth at the audition stage last year. And although she didn’t win the competition (she came second to Diversity) she has forged a world conquering career already.

So what does this year’s BGT have in store?  “It’s going to be very weird,” judge Piers Morgan has revealed. “We have never had so many strange acts and people should brace themselves.”

And if the live audiences are anything to go by there could be more bad than good. “The audiences were really harsh this year,’ said Ant McPartlin, who co-hosts the show with Declan Donnelly. “Especially in Glasgow! They were quite volatile there with no patience.”

Dec added: “We love it more each year! The acts get more ridiculous and funnier, plus there’s a greater variety this year.”

And it certainly looks like there is a colourful array of characters this year. From Cancan dancers and men in all-in-one body suits to the usual array of animals, kids and silly acts. There are some familiar faces as well as the Cheeky Girls team up with their cousin as a dance act!

And even though the show is in its fourth year, there does appears to still be some undiscovered talent in the UK.

So far the buzz has been about 14-year-old Katie Thornett, who judge Amanda Holden compares to Duffy, Janey Cutler, 81, who wowed the judges and the audience with her rendition of Edith Piaf’s Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien, and  four-year-old Michael Jackson impersonator Kayim-Ali Jaffer.

And it may be the year of the Tiger however Simon Cowell is backing a dog to win this series such is the strength of the canine talent this year!
