Shake Things Up: 5 Cocktails for Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s (or galentine’s!) Day approaches, many of us are choosing a cosy night in over the cost of an overpriced meal out. So why not add a little pizazz to the evening with an indulgent cocktail or two? Here are five of Belle’s favourite Valentine’s Day cocktails that are easy-to-make and guaranteed to impress any guest.

Wild Passion Valentine’s Cocktail

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 50ml Cotswolds Distillery Gin No.1
  • 25ml fresh lemon juice
  • 25ml passionfruit syrup
  • 15ml egg white or aquafaba

Method: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker without ice and dry shake to emulsify. Add ice and shake again until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with an orange peel or edible flower.

Valentine's cocktail

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 25ml Renais Gin
  • 25ml white vermouth
  • 25ml Aperol
  • 2 strawberries
  • 1 large orange peel

Method: Place strawberries in a mixing glass and gently muddle. Add remaining ingredients with ice and stir until chilled. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with half a strawberry and an orange peel.

Bare Bottom Batanga

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 45ml Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila
  • 15ml fresh lime juice
  • 2 tsp Luxardo maraschino cherry syrup
  • 120ml Coca-Cola
  • Salt (for rim)

Method: Wet the rim of a highball glass with lime juice and dip into salt. Fill the glass with ice, then add cherry syrup, lime juice and tequila. Add a small pinch of salt and top with Coca-Cola. Stir gently. Garnish with two cherries

Amarena Valentine’s Cocktail

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 45ml Dutch Barn Black Cherry Vodka
  • 25ml Ellers Farm Espresso Liqueur
  • 2 dashes chocolate bitters

Method: Combine all ingredients (except garnish) in a mixing jug with ice and stir until chilled. Strain over ice into a rocks glass. Garnish: Maraschino cherry.
