10 Reason’s We Loved Watching The Olympics

Marcelo Chierighini Brazil swimmer

Australia Men’s Olympic Swimming Team 2012The Olympics are almost over and despite most Londoners (yes us including) complaining about how they would disrupt our lives, make commuting a nightmare and make East London a veritable no-go zone, we are very happy to admit how wrong we were! The Olympics have brightened up our lives with the mix of International visitors, the gold rush of team GB,  the excitement of watching the events and looking at finely toned athletic physiques without having to offer up an excuse.

Here we celebrate our favourite Olympic champions, who may, or may not have won a medal but are winners in the looks department – starting with the Aussie swim team featured above!

Daniel Gyurta, Marcelo Chierighini, Ryan BaileyMarcelo Chierighini
With his dark broody looks and washboard stomach Brazilian swimmer Marcelo Chierighini gets our pulses racing. The 21-year-old South American is also studying business at Auburn University in Alabama.

Ryan Bailey
This American track star may have finished fifth behind Usain Bolt in the 100m final but the cute 23-year-old, who was competing in his first Olympics, finished first in our hearts.

Daniel Gyurta
This 23-year-old Hungarian not only won gold but set a new world record in the 200m breaststroke (ooh it’s hard, but we’re not going there). He is not just a pretty face either, he is currently studying economics at the Budapest College of Communication and Business.

Martin Reader, Aldo Montano, Camille LacourtMartin Reader
It is usually the girls that get all the attention in Beach Volleyball but this 28-year-old Canadian native made us sit up and take notice.

Aldo Montano
This 33-year-old Italian is a third generation Olympic fencing champion – both his father and grandfather competed for Italy at the Olympics in fencing. The gold medal winner reminds us of heroes of old with his impressive sword play!

Camille Lacourt
This French backstroker makes us want to help mend the rift in French/British relations, one swimmer at a time. The 27-year-old from Marseille is the face of Clarins and has been dating Miss France 2008 Valerie Begue since 2010 – lucky girl!

Thomas Pichler, Robert Rosengren, Giuseppe LanzoneThomas Pichler
Elite Australian gymnast knows how to impress on the floor, rings or pommel horse.  The 25-year-old was born in Austria but moved to Australia as a five-year-old and is also studying for a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Management. Sadly girls he is already married.

Robert Rosengren
We wouldn’t mind a little roll around with Swedish Greco-Roman wrestler Robert. He may have bowed out in the quarter finals but we are happy to bathe his wounds should he need it.

Giuseppe Lanzone
The Brits may have dominated in the rowing but US team member Giuseppe dominated in the fashion stakes being a Ralph Lauren model. The six-foot four 29-year-old gets his good looks from his Peruvian heritage and sites his hobbies as surfing, sailing, cooking – things we’d happily join him in.
