Want to bring some colour into your bedroom, but worried it may be a little overpowering? Well not to worry, as interior designer Vanessa Arbuthnott has given Belle About Town her expert tips on how to bring in colour without giving your other half a headache.
- Feature wall
One of the best ways to bring in a splash of colour to a bedroom without it being overwhelming is by using a two tone decor design. So your favorite colours fuchsia, but you don’t want to make the room appear smaller with a darker colour? Simple! Meet in the middle, paint 3 of the walls a light light cream and have the one feature wall painted in the darker colour, it will add a nice touch without being too overpowering.
- Canvas Art
Love wall art? Then why not brighten up your room by adding a little canvas art. There are so many available in various different stores to suit your taste. You could use one large canvas design with multi-tonal colours hung above the bed, or a select few decorated around the room to add a bit of character.
- Vibrant Bedding
So easy yet so effective. Why not opt for some really vibrant bedding with a beautiful design to add a splash of colour to your bedroom. Perhaps even patterned fabric to give an extra wow factor. You can also embellish plain bedding with a colorful throw or a pretty headboard.
- Add some life
It’s seems a very millennial thing to have plants in the house, little do they know we have been doing it for years. Want to add some fresh air and colour to the room? Add some beautiful house plants to the bedroom to give it a new lease of life.
- Pretty Pillows
Pillows are such an easy thing to complete a room and will really add some drama. Why not go for some vibrant, unique designs which will complement the room’s furniture. If you have plain walls, some really eye catching pillows will be just the right amount of bold you need to give your room some character.
