Looking for somewhere new and exciting to eat or drink this July? We’ve rounded up our selection of some of the more exciting places in our beautiful city. From pop up kitchens to bona fide beach bars, Belle has your summer menu sorted. Now all we need is the sun…

The Montague on the Gardens Beach Bar

Sandy feet, beachside cocktails and melting ice creams –summertime is almost upon us (we hope)! It’s hard to believe, but this year Londoners can experience all this summer fun and more, right in the heart of the city. Complete with real sand, a beach-hut style thatched roof, coconut and pineapple cocktails, palm trees, and the finest barbequed treats, desserts and ice creams, Londoners can swap the hustle and bustle of the city for holiday mode, with a piña colada in hand at the Beach Bar, which is taking bookings until Sunday July 24.  Book yourself a ‘surf pass’ for £35 which grants access to the beach bar for one hour, a welcome pineapple or coconut cocktail on arrival followed by a second drink of choice from the Beach Bar drinks menu, plus your very own BBQ platter featuring a tasty mini chicken burger with pineapple relish, scrumptious seafood skewer, mini fish and chips and of course, an ice cream to finish! Open from 3-10pm, the Beach Bar is the perfect place to make the most of the long summer nights, right in the heart of Bloomsbury. To book email meetmt@rchmail.com or see montaguehotel.com/ski-and-surf/the-beach-bar.

Benito’s Hat

IMG_4635

Benito’s Hat is one of those places you might have walked past a few times, but once you’ve been in and tried their fare, you’ll never be able to stop yourself going in again! The burritos are something special, filled to the brim they are a true taste sensation like no other. It’s a self-waiting style so you order at the counter and pick your fills, then grab a drink from the adjoining bar. Although mexican restaurants are ten a penny in London, Benito’s hat is a cut against the grain, serving unforgettable burritos, killer cocktails and delicious tacos. In our humble opinion, Benito’s Hat serves the best burritos in town. See Benitos Hat for locations.

Heist Bank

Heist Bank is a new all-day hangout in Paddington, just off the canal in a large, airy space. Specialising in wood-fired pizza, beer and fresh flowers, this new venue brings something entirely new to the regenerated area. With a laid back common room feel, Heist Bank is filled with seasonal flowers, all available to buy at the in-house artisan florist. There are also bikes stationed outside for customers to borrow to explore the canal and local area! Perhaps the main attraction though is the Mr Whippy ice cream machine with grown-up toppings that certainly takes care of pudding! The 6,000 square foot site features a fully stocked bar, restaurant area and an outside seating space for 50. Find out more at www.heistbank.com.

Cocchi, award winning aromatised wines from the heart of Piedmont, have joined forces with Piccolino restaurant in Mayfair, to launch the Aperi-Tea – where the British afternoon tea meets the classic Italian ‘aperitivo hour’ and produces something rather wonderful. Tea-laced Cocchi spritzes are served with a delicious selection of classic Italian antipasti ‘de terra e montagna’ alongside affogatos and tiramisu. Move over English Breakfast tea and crustless cucumber sarnies! The Aperi-Tea runs until September: Sunday to Thursday, 3-6pm.

Enjoy panoramic views of London’s skyline at the The BLOOM Gin Terrace on the eighth floor of the OXO Tower. The BLOOM Gin Terrace @ OXO is serving a bespoke menu of six cocktails, created by OXO’s star bartender Sophie Bratt, including the BLOOM Gin Day Dreamer: “a twist on the classic Collins and Honey Pot, which combines BLOOM Gin with lavender honey and lemon juice and is garnished with bee pollen”.

Yard Sale Finsbury Park

Slap bang in the middle of Finsbury Park is Yard Sale Pizza. The second branch to open offers the same mouth watering sourdough pizzas you find in their flagship store in Hackney. There are also some exclusives specially created for Finsbury Park including The Mullered Mushroom – a collaboration with Hackney’s Five Points Brewery. Think portobello and oyster mushrooms braised in Five Points ‘London Smoke’ porter, with Pale Ale onion chutney, ricotta, fior di latte mozzarella and finished with thyme and golden promise malt grain, Wow! Yard Sale, Finsbury Park, 54 Blackstock Road, London N4 2D, Nearest Tube: Finsbury Park

All chicken is free range and comes from Fosse Meadow Farms, and all birds are additive and hormone free, fed on maise and bred for half as long as the average free range chicken. Menu wise, expect fried chicken, killer cocktails and the best fried pickles you’ve ever had. If you fancy a dessert the dipsy for two is something so special, so save room for lots of gooey goodness. To book call 0203 246 0007.
