Showbiz Roundup: Shhh, did you hear?

Shh 17 JanGossip From The Golden Globes

The 71st Golden Globes took place on Sunday night and in true Hollywood style there was drama, apologies, shocks, scoops and a couple of shiny awards. So, where to start? Possibly with Jennifer Lawrence’s classic photobombing of Taylor Swift? The American Hustle actress scooped the gong for Best Supporting Actress and looked stunning in a floor length, white strapless Dior gown. Notorious heartbreaker and country icon, Taylor Swift was talking to Ryan Seacrest when Lawrence reportedly thought it would be funny to force Swift to recreate a defining moment in her own career. A trip down the stairs. Although the push didn’t actually take place, photogs did manage to snap this absolute beauty of Lawrence emerging in the background and Seacrest shared the snap on his Instagram, saying “The single most important photo from the #goldenglobes red carpet.”

Keeping on the subject of popular TV network E!, the channel has come under scrutiny since the Globes after is questionable choice of “fun fact” for actor Michael J. Fox. Whilst streaming online live coverage of the red carpet, the Entertainment Network would show a fun fact about the on screen celebrity, however this “fun” fact gave details about the actor suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Viewers took to twitter to share their outrage and E! swiftly apologised, saying: “We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize,” Another big winner of the Golden Globes included popular TV show Breaking Bad, scooping up Best TV Drama and its lead Bryan Cranston taking home the prize for Best Actor In A TV Series. RAZZIERazzie Nominations Are Out

Keeping with awards season, it is also the time of year to recognise the best of the worst as the not-so-prestigious Golden Raspberry awards has come around again. The parody style ceremony is in its 34th year and has its eyes set on some new celebrities and films to take down this year.

2014’s event seems to primarily target the Adam Sandler comedy, Grown Ups 2, which is up for a grand total of eight awards. These include Worst Picture and Worst Sequence. Sandler is more than familiar with the Razzies and has made history in a way he would probably prefer to forget – by scooping a whopping 10 Razzie awards in one night for the epic flop Jack and Jill, where he played the not-so-funny twins.

Other nominations this year include the Johnny Depp flick, The Lone Ranger, After Earth and Scary Movie 5.

Sandra Bullock has previously made her own piece of history with the Razzies in 2010 by picking up the Golden Raspberry for All About Steve and the next day collecting an Oscar for the powerful drama The Blind Side. Always the professional, Bullock collected both gongs in person with an air of professionalism. The Razzie awards ceremony will be held on March 2nd, the night before the Oscars. We would wish the celebrities good luck but imagine this is one award they’re not hoping to pick up…

Mel BMel B’s Daughter Rushed To Hospital

Scary Spice turned Scared Spice this week when she had to rush her six-year-old daughter to hospital. Mel B reportedly had to take daughter Angel to A&E on Thursday after she apparently became disorientated and blood started pouring from her nose.

Doctors have already run tests and been able to diagnose Angel to have either a heart murmur or an infection. During her 2DayFM show yesterday, Mel B said told her listeners: “This morning’s been a little bit crazy because my six-year-old, Angel, was feeling not very well yesterday, dizzy and had her first-ever nosebleed so I kept her off school.

“And then this morning, completely disoriented and blood was just funnelling like there was no tomorrow, so I took her to the emergency room. She had blood tears and she’s got like a heart murmur thing on, poor little thing. They don’t know what’s wrong. They’ve done a bunch of blood tests so we’re just waiting for that stuff to come back. They’re thinking it’s either like some kind of heart murmur or vessel infection or sinus infection. A lot is going on.”

We hope Angel gets better soon!

KATE MOSSKate Moss Turns 40

Rumour has it that life begins at 40 but surely this cannot be the case for model, Kate Moss. The 14-year-old girl who was first scouted at JFK Airport turned 40 on Thursday and is set for another big year. Having already conquered the fashion industry at least five times over, she is now turning her hand to the magazines she features in by bagging her a gig as contributing Fashion Editor at British Vogue.

Kate Moss decided to keep it classy when it came to celebrating the big 4-0 and popped out for a spot of lunch. The lunch happened to be with the likes of Sadie Frost, Stella McCartney and Naomi Campbell…  no biggie. Also at the event and constantly close to her side was hubby, Jamie Hince, who practically chauffeured Kate into the swish, 34 Restaurant in Mayfair.

BEYONCEBeyonce Speaks Out – “Gender equality is a myth”

We’ve always known that Beyonce is all for “Independent Women” and she has reiterated this in a public essay entitled Gender Equality Is A Myth as part of the Shriver Report. Political Researcher Maria Shriver, niece of John F Kennedy, is examining the status of women within American Society and delving into why women still aren’t seen as equal to men, with there still being a significant pay gap between the sexes. Whilst we haven’t quite returned to the era of Emmeline Pankhurst and burning bras, Beyonce has kicked up quite a stir with her short piece.

She says: “We need to stop buying into the myth about gender equality. It isn’t a reality yet […] Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect.” Beyonce goes on to write “Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal? These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. And we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible.” You can see more of the extract from Beyonce here.

By day, she is a junior PR Executive, racing around trying to conquer the world of public relations but by night frantically taps away at her keyboard, getting lost in the realms of celebrity culture and sharing the stories with her own “Sophia spin”. Sophia is unashamedly obsessed with meaningful quotes and whilst blissfully content with the simple things in life, she’s far too ambitious to ever let them be enough until she is carrying on her person that perfect Chanel bag.
