Shh Jan10The BAFTA Nominations are Out!

The 2014 BAFTA nominations were released on Wednesday, ahead of the all glitz and glamour show on Wednesday 16th February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Taking the lead for the most nominations is the Sandra Bullock and George Clooney sci-fi collaboration, directed, co written and produced by Alfonso Cuarón. Sandra Bullock, nominated for Best Actress described the role as enabling her to have “a rebirth” in her excitement at filmmaking when talking to The Daily Mail. Other films to take the lead on the Oscar nods included 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle” with ten approving head bobs from the bigwigs and the Tom Hanks true story, Captain Philips with nine. Hanks also has another movie up for a respectable five awards, Saving Mr Banks.

As always, the British Academy Film Awards are voted for by BAFTA members and professionals and whilst we don’t have a say in who will bag the prestigious steel faces, we can judge the on-the-night outfit choices from the comfort of our homes. Totally the same, right? So, in the words of Effy Trinket from our favourite franchise “The Hunger Games” LET THE GAMES BEGIN! You can see the full list of nominations here.

Ke$ha Goes To Rehab

Renowned party girl and Jack Daniels loving Ke$ha entered rehab last Friday. The 26-year-old singer checked herself into a rehab centre in Illinois. Before entering the Timberline Knolls centre. Ke$ha spoke to TMZ, sharing that she was going to be receiving treatment for an eating disorder. She said: ‘I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice.  I’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder… to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.” The singer, who was recently at the top spot in the UK Chart with her Pitbull collaboration “Timber” has faced a lot of speculation regarding her weight since she rose to fame in 2009 year with the summer anthem “Tick Tock” and has often been papped with a variable physique.

Ke$sha (who’s real name is Kesha Rose Sebert) has been nothing but optimistic as of late and that showed with a tweet on New Year’s Day shared with her 3 million followers and saying ‘Cheers to this year being the best year ever. 2014 gon (sic) be the year of truth and freedom.’

We wish Ke$ha the best of luck.

Shakira and rihannaShakira and Rihanna Collaboration

Two of our favourite songstresses appear set to collaborate this year, setting 2014 off to an amazing start. Thirty six-year-old Shakira posted a picture on her twitter feed of two directors chairs one labelled “Shakira” and the other labelled “Featuring Rihanna” with the caption about saying: “Can’t Remember To Forget You.” Sat on the grey background between the chairs, in only eight characters was what will define our futures (for the next week at least), the date of whatever this collaboration will be! “01.13.14” will possibly be the dawn of a new era for pop fans who are eager to hear the creative and vocal contrast between the sultry, deep-toned and controversial Rihanna paired with the sexy yet sweet, yummy- mummy Shakira. The tweet read “You guys ready? Jan 13 is almost here! ¿Están listos? El 13 de Enero se acerca / @Rihanna #rememberforget Shak” which, quite frankly, set us off in a frenzy. Watch this space, Shrianna is coming…

DB marie claireDrew Barrymore Talks About Her Mum

In a tell-all conversation with Marie Claire, Drew Barrymore has spoken out about the relationship with her mum and the reasons behind her to decision to have no contact. Drew describes their relationship to the glossy magazine, saying: “I mean, my relationship with my mom is so complicated that… I’ve always been empathetic toward my mom, and I was even more so when I had a kid and we had a really amazing conversation about it.

“However, it hasn’t enabled me to lessen the distance. It’s the hardest subject in my life. I’ve never just been angry with her. I’ve always felt guilt and empathy and utter sensitivity. But we can’t really be in each other’s lives at this point.”

None of this is surprising considering the rocky upbringing the starlet had, which included an introduction to the world of drugs and alcohol at the age of 11, where she partied at the famous New York nightclub, Studio 54.

Over the past decade though, we have watched Drew evolve and in front of the public eye she has transformed into a glamorous, successful yet down to earth mum, sharing two children with Will Kopelman The February issue of Marie Claire is out now.

Gerard-Butler-Gerard Butler in talks for Point Break

Our favourite Scottish studmuffin (yes, the word was appropriate) is apparently in the final stages of negotiating a deal to star in the remake of the 1991, Patrick Swayze hit, Point Break. According to Hollywood Reporter, Butler is rumoured to be taking on the lead role of Bodhi (the late Swayze’s protagonist role) and will play the thrill seeking, on-the-edge living, FBI agent who inducts an undercover agent into a world of criminal. Butler has earned his stripes as one of the lead action heroes in the business, after his lead role in 300 and last year’s Olympus Has Fallen. Word on the grapevine is Butler is also lined up for the sequel, London Has Fallen. You can see the trailer for the original Point Break here

Sophia Mead

Sophia is a greedy graduate not content with building up her credentials in one half of her joint honours degree. By day, she is a junior PR Executive, racing around trying to conquer the world of public relations but by night frantically taps away at her keyboard, getting lost in the realms of celebrity culture and sharing the stories with her own “Sophia spin”. Sophia is unashamedly obsessed with meaningful quotes and whilst blissfully content with the simple things in life, she’s far too ambitious to ever let them be enough until she is carrying on her person that perfect Chanel bag.
