The 2014 BAFTA nominations were released on Wednesday, ahead of the all glitz and glamour show on Wednesday 16th February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Taking the lead for the most nominations is the Sandra Bullock and George Clooney sci-fi collaboration, directed, co written and produced by Alfonso Cuarón. Sandra Bullock, nominated for Best Actress described the role as enabling her to have “a rebirth” in her excitement at filmmaking when talking to The Daily Mail. Other films to take the lead on the Oscar nods included 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle” with ten approving head bobs from the bigwigs and the Tom Hanks true story, Captain Philips with nine. Hanks also has another movie up for a respectable five awards, Saving Mr Banks.
As always, the British Academy Film Awards are voted for by BAFTA members and professionals and whilst we don’t have a say in who will bag the prestigious steel faces, we can judge the on-the-night outfit choices from the comfort of our homes. Totally the same, right? So, in the words of Effy Trinket from our favourite franchise “The Hunger Games” LET THE GAMES BEGIN! You can see the full list of nominations here.

Drew Barrymore Talks About Her Mum
In a tell-all conversation with Marie Claire, Drew Barrymore has spoken out about the relationship with her mum and the reasons behind her to decision to have no contact. Drew describes their relationship to the glossy magazine, saying: “I mean, my relationship with my mom is so complicated that… I’ve always been empathetic toward my mom, and I was even more so when I had a kid and we had a really amazing conversation about it.
“However, it hasn’t enabled me to lessen the distance. It’s the hardest subject in my life. I’ve never just been angry with her. I’ve always felt guilt and empathy and utter sensitivity. But we can’t really be in each other’s lives at this point.”
None of this is surprising considering the rocky upbringing the starlet had, which included an introduction to the world of drugs and alcohol at the age of 11, where she partied at the famous New York nightclub, Studio 54.
Over the past decade though, we have watched Drew evolve and in front of the public eye she has transformed into a glamorous, successful yet down to earth mum, sharing two children with Will Kopelman The February issue of Marie Claire is out now.
