Mary Portas ‘Super Stylin’ for charity

Doyenne of the great British high street, Mary Portas, is once more lending her golden touch to the very worthy charity, Save the Children (StC).  Previously seen at London’s Westfield, Mary’s Living and Giving shop, pops up this time in London’s Notting Hill.

As you might expect from Portas, the concept is a revolutionary one, teaming main stream fashion with charity shopping and up and coming local talent to deliver a unique shopping experience.  Expect the find the store crammed full of former press samples and end of season stock from well known high street and designer brands as well as offerings from local designers and outstanding vintage finds.  Stock isn’t just limited to fashion garbs, StC’s Retail Director, Chris Coe says to expect anything from ‘homemade jam to works of art.’ How fabulous!

The interior, as you might expect from Portas, is a far cry from a traditional charity shop.  She, and the team at Yellow Door have created something really rather wonderful.  It’s supremely slick and stylish, delivering on brief (to create an interior that would reflect the feel of the area: sophisticated and unique) and then some.

While W11 welcomes this wonderful new shopping experience,  you can also expect more shops to pop-up across London throughout 2010 as the Westbourne Grove Living & Giving is merely a starting point for the project.  All the money raised will help save the lives of children around the world so if you’re interested in making a (high quality!) donation or want to enquire about volunteering, then visit Save the Children or call 020 7012 6400.
