The UK’s Top Foodie Destinations

Living in a city soaked with street food pop-ups, gastropubs and food festivals, Londoners with a taste for fine food are spoilt for choice. And for those seeking something truly special, dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant is bound to hit the spot. Did you know that over a third (68) of Britain’s top eateries are located in the capital? But London is not the only place you can find the highest standard of culinary delights, the whole of the UK boasts a broad selection of Michelin Starred restaurants, and we’ve uncovered a map to help fine diners discover new gems across the country and beyond.

Last minute cottage holiday hub – Snaptrip.com – has mapped out every single Michelin-starred restaurant across the UK and Ireland, along with the most anticipated food festivals coming up in 2017.

With 170 restaurants in the UK and Ireland holding at least one Michelin star, the new research reveals the location of each restaurant, including the 17 which have just received their first in the latest Michelin Guide.

The top five foodie destinations outside of London include Berkshire with 7, Yorkshire with 6, the West Midlands also with 6, and Devon and Wiltshire which both boast 5.

Other areas only just outside the top five include Cumbria (4), Gloucestershire (3), Cornwall (3), Bristol (3) and Oxfordshire (3).

Amongst the newest hotspots to receive the recognition, the map has highlighted Veeraswamy in London, Forest Side in Cumbria, Peel’s at Hampton Manor in Solihull and The Wild Rabbit in Oxfordshire as foodie destinations for mini-breaking Londoners to add to their itinerary.

The researchers also identified where Brits can find eight of the most anticipated food festivals taking place in 2017, from Bristol’s VegFest to Meatopia at London’s Tobacco Dock.

Matt Fox, CEO at Snaptrip, said: “Enjoying a great meal out is a favourite pastime of many Brits, but branching out in your local area or whilst visiting somewhere new can be difficult.

“The 2017 Michelin Star list is a great way of finding out what the hottest new restaurants are and we wanted to use this to identify the true foodie destinations across the country which are home to some of the top eateries and food festivals.

“We hope this will help people to discover great food and dining experiences on their doorsteps and also help plan trips for their next staycation.”
