UK Rumfest Comes To Town

If you needed any more proof that rum is the new gin, this weekend’s bigger-and-better-than-ever UK Rumfest provides certain evidence.

And now that sales of the drink are set to reach £1million by Christmas, why not find out what everyone’s on about by banishing Autumn for the time-being and getting down to the summery rhythm of rum?

Started seven years ago, UK Rumfest has continued to grow and this weekend’s event – held in Earl’s Court – will showcase rum at its finest.

There will be over 400 rums featured so you can really get your tastebuds tuned in to all that’s good about the drink.

And the products aren’t just from the Caribbean either, with rums from Japan, India, Madeira and the Philippines on offer too.

Highlights of the day include masterclasses run by rum aficionados, tastings of high-end rums that retail for £1600 a bottle, a cocktail bar featuring the world’s biggest Tiki head and a mini carnival, dubbed appropriately The Mini-Trini!

There are also chocolate and rum matching sessions with Rococo chocolates and a demo from Masterchef contestant Shivi Ramoutar.

RumFest founder and global rum ambassador Ian Burrell says: ‘I’m very excited about this year’s show and amspecially looking forward to trying new rums from all over the world.’

Park your pumpkin, pick up your pineapples and get down there!

  • Rumfest is at the ILEC Conference Centre, Lillie Rd on 14th and 15th October, from 12-6 on Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. Tickets cost £49.50 and are available from Ticket Source
