Embankment Markets Helps The Homeless

Embankment marketsAn inspiring summer market will take residence at Embankment this Bank Holiday weekend promising a carnival atmosphere with music and market stalls, all in aid of a London homeless charity.

The Embankment Summer Market will put down roots in Victoria Gardens from next Friday to Monday, and organisers promise an exciting event full of fun as well as fashion finds. Created by City Showcase: Markets, the creators of some of the UK’s most glamorous artisan and designer crafts events, the unique three-day fair follows last year’s Soho Flea Market in Dean Street.

Bringing together up and coming Artisans, artists, fashion designers, jewellery designers and musicians, Embankment Summer Market will also feature gourmet food, drink, farmer’s market, lawn games and entertainment for all the family. The event is in support of The Connection at St Martin’s, a charity helping the homeless in the heart of central London.

The bespoke market handpicked for the event will feature a selection of stallholders, and a plethora of performers on an outdoor stage.

Nanette Rigg, Founding Director of City Showcase: Markets told Belle About Town: “Building on the success of Soho Flea Market over the past three years, we’re excited to be holding our first Embankment Summer Market in the beautiful Victoria Embankment Gardens alongside the Thames. The three-day event will feature a handpicked selection of innovative products by the UK’s best creative and design talents, alongside stalls from this summer’s hottest food and drink vendors. The City Showcase stage will host the best emerging musicians and bands, and there’ll be lawn games and entertainment for all ages”.

City Showcase is a not-for-profit organisation, aiming to support and nurture new creatives from all disciplines. They look to fill the fair with high quality, distinctive, talented and quirky designers, showcasing their products alongside top quality street food and live entertainment.

The distinctly glamorous Embankment Summer Market is a unique, must-go event in a wonderfully scenic location on the Northbank of the Thames between Embankment Station and the Royal Courts of Justice and Somerset House.

Sonja Ashbury, Fundraising Officer at The Connection at St Martins-in-the-Fields says: “Being the Charity partner of Embankment Summer Market is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise awareness and tell people about our work with rough sleepers in Westminster, the borough with the highest rates of homelessness in the UK (a quarter of rough sleepers are located here). We will be making sure our clients get the most out of this opportunity by displaying some art work and photography they have produced through the Centre, which is a massive confidence boost for them and a source of income for them too!”
