A Thriller Of A Day

Amazon ThrillerI don’t know about you, but unless one makes living out of public performing, one does not voluntarily agree to being taught how to moonwalk in front of strangers at 10 o’clock in the morning. But, since I recently decided to add more spontaneity into my life, and being the keeper of promises that I am, I found myself in London’s West End’s Lyric Theatre, recreating Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. Well sort of. Kitted out with MJ’s signature white sequin glove and a hat, a group of us were treated to a private dance lesson by the Thriller Live! cast.

Let’s admit it – we have all, at some point in our lives, tried to impress with our moonwalk moves. After spending some time with the professionals, I quickly realized that my version of the moonwalk was a little different to the real thing! The trick is, as I learned, is to pull back the foot which is flat on the floor, instead of the one that is on your tippy toes. This is much harder than it seems – pulling the foot back requires a lot of strength, yet it must look smooth and almost elevated. Needless to say, I have been practicing since.

This experience was a courtesy of Amazon Local, which launched a new ticket booking service for all of London’s famous West End theatres. Thriller Live!, now in its seventh year at the Lyric Theatre, was the first show available to be fully bookable through this new platform. Amazon Local has been offering a variety of services in the UK since 2012, including spa breaks and hotel deals, adding the opportunity for UK customers to purchase tickets to all West End shows, current and future ones, at prices that work for every budget. Every month Amazon Local will also run special offers including “Show of the Month”, with the musical The Commitments holding the May honour. Just a few simple clicks away, either through the AmazonLocal.co.uk or Amazon.co.uk websites, or through the app, there is no time wasting either – all your bank details and billing information are stored in your account, making each purchase quick and hassle-free.

Now I don’t know about you, but a place where I can do my online shopping and buy theatre tickets at the same time, has definitely won a special spot in my heart.
