So You Want To Be An Author…

woman-laptopThey say that everyone has a book inside them and we’re sure that, like us, a few of you have thought how good it would be to be a published author. To be paid to write is a lot of people’s dream job but sometimes, getting noticed in an ever more crowded market can be quite difficult. It may be easier to self publish but without a named publishing company behind you and the marketing so that you stand out from the crowd, who will read it except your nearest and dearest?

Luckily a  fantastic new writing opportunity is available through Harper Fiction. Their new romance brand, Harper Impulse, will be launching shortly and they are on the lookout for submissions!  If any of you have tried to get a book published will know, big publishing houses like Harper Fiction almost never take unsolicited manuscripts so this really is a rare and exciting opportunity for budding authors.

What they’re looking for:

  • New writers who dare to be different – and the more the merrier!
  • The imprint will publish from fun & fast Adult and New Adult genre fiction to more mainstream novels; particularly contemporary, historical, paranormal and erotic fiction.
  • They are looking for any length & really want writers who want to push the boundaries in terms of storytelling – whether that be mashing genres, experimenting with length etc…

Full submission guidelines can be found on their Facebook page.

So, what are you waiting for? To submit, e-mail romance@harpercollins.co.uk with your completed manuscript, covering letter and brief synopsis.
