Super Smoothies To Start The Day

SmoothiesMany of us will be looking to get fitter and eat healthier this Jan and we are always told one of the best ways to do this is to ensure we have a healthy, balanced breakfast. With this in mind here are some quick, healthy and tasty smoothie recipes that will help you feel great on the inside and outside.

With have a totally Totally Tropical Coconut smoothie to bring a taste of the exotic to breakfast time, enriched with our super healthy, organic virgin coconut oil. It’s so light and refreshing, and will brighten even the darkest winter morning plus an avocado and banana recipe for a creamy, delicious drink rich in B vitamins, mood boosting trytophan and magnesium to calm and soothe frazzled nerves.

Totally Tropical Coconut Smoothie

Serves 4 – perfect for a family breakfast

1 medium banana
400g frozen pineapple chunks
1tbsp Groovy Food Light Mild Agave Nectar
1tbsp desiccated coconut
30g Groovy Food Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
250ml light coconut milk
250ml fresh pineapple juice

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Georgie’s Super Smoothie

Top triathlete and world champion, Georgie Rutherford,  has exclusively shared her super-smoothie recipe to give you that kick of energy required forgetting you up and ready to face the day.

Serves 1

1 spoon Maca powder
1/2 spoon spirulina powder
1/2 spoon Acai powder
1 spoon Whey protein
A good squeeze of The Groovy Food Company’s Light and Mild Agave nectar
Oats or muesli depending on what you have in the cupboard.

Georgie says: ‘Just whizz it together in a blender along with any fruits you fancy. I have loads of apples from the trees in my garden so I chuck those in, along with some pears. Blueberries and watermelon also taste great – just experiment!’

Groovy Avocado and Banana Smoothie

Serves 2

1 small banana, sliced
1 small avocado, peeled and stone removed
2 tbsp Groovy Food Rich Agave Nectar
2tsp Groovy Food Cool Oil
300ml (10floz) chilled milk or milk alternative e.g. soy, oat or rice milk 

Mix the ingredients together in a blender and serve in a tall glass.
