Winter Rescue For Your Skin And Hair

Posted by Editor On November - 5 - 2010

There are some lovely things about winter drawing closer and the weather turning colder. Cuddling up in front of a fire with a bottle of wine and a loved one. Dressing in soft, warm knits, the giving spirit that the party season brings and the magical look of snow covered fields.

However the cold weather does have some drawbacks and one of those is the extra care your skin needs to stay beautiful soft and radiant.

Cold air destroys the layer of skin that protects it against drying out and going from warm central heated houses into the cold air plays havoc with the delicate skin on faces.

Belle has sourced the best products to keep your skin hydrated, moisturized and looking your best throughout the cold winter months.

Sleep is extra important during the winter months to giving your skin time to repair all the damage from a day going in and out of hot and cold extremes. Giving your skin an extra boost by using a nourishing night balm such as Rest & Regenerate from Angela Langford (£31.75). Containing vitamin E which helps to increase healthy skin renewal and organic rosehip oil, one of the best anti-aging oils around, repairing damaged skin and giving skin back its elasticity. It’s very rich and you only need a couple of drops to wake up to soft, smooth skin with a radiant glow.

It’s still important to exfoliate your skin but it may be extra sensitive so a gentler approach is needed. AHAVA micro-peeling cream wash (£15) is free from harsh detergents and prepared with Dead Sea minerals. It has a velvety rich lather that gently peels your skin whilst water lily and guarana moisturize, sooth and protect.

For a body moisturiser that last from the morning right till the evening, incorporate E45 endless moisture body lotion (£4.49) into your morning routine.  The unique formulation contains moisture-absorbing lipids that reflect the natural composition of healthy skin and enhance your skin’s natural barrier function so your skin remains hydrated all day.

Lips have a horrible habit of drying out in the winter and with all the mistletoe around having dry cracked lips is not an option. Lush has come to the rescue with Snow Fairy tinted lip balm (£3.95). Not only does it contain murumuru and cupuacu butter to soften and dried raspberry to leave your lips with a glistening soft pink shade.

Hair also needs extra special treatment and protection from the elements to stop it drying out and becoming frizzy. Fish Sleek High Gloss Serum (4.99) is specially formulated to tackle dry, damaged and split hair whilst giving a gorgeous shine for glossy locks. Fish Silky Smoothing Cream (3.99) is made with pro vitamin B5 that adds moisture to dry hair and strengthening proteins to leave hair nourished and smooth.

Give hair a weekly treatment with Fushi Total Repair Dry Hair Balm (£16.96) it’s packed with natural herbs, oils and butters to nurture and repair dryness. Coconut oil cares for the hair at the shaft, drenching hair in moisture while cedar wood and rosemary essential oils repair and seals in hydration to hair damaged by central heating.
