Improve Your Skin With Online Chats

woman-mirror-faceIf you think having access to a skin specialist is a privilege reserved for the rich and famous then think again, because beauty clinic Face The Future recently launched free online consultations for anyone with skin issues, and they challenged us to try them out. As the consultations are all done via skype or facetime, you really can be anywhere in the world to use the service – as long as you have an internet connection. So I settled down in my living room and started the Skype…

Before I underwent a consultation, I thought I had pretty good skin and didn’t need much help or advice when it came to my beauty routine, but maybe I shouldn’t have been so complacent! Aesthetic practitioner Chloe Maundrill carried out my online consultation and explained to me that once you pass 25, the skin’s collagen production slows down – hence the onset of fine lines and wrinkles. Not good news for me at 33! Apparently typical anti-aging products only penetrate the skin by 7 %, so recommended I use Mesotech Needle Roll, which allows up to 87% of the product to sink in. This stimulates cellular turnover in the skin, increasing collagen production and improving elasticity and skin tone. It works by pricking the skin – causing a rush of healing cells to come to the surface which makes skin look plumper and fuller. I was apprehensive at first, but after trying it once I realised that I could barely feel it. After cleaning my face, I rolled the Needle Roll in a star shape across the different sections of my face, then I applied the skincare products I was recommended. And even after just one application I could see a slight difference in my skin’s smoothness.

Chole also recommended that I start my daily skincare routine by using Dermaviduals DMS Cleansing Milk to gently cleanse the skin. I generally prefer to use a wash, but I was told that the lathering action in a wash can strip the skin – so it is always best to use a milk cleanser. The best thing about this brand is that it is made without harmful emulsifiers, or irritating perfumes and preservatives, and can therefore be used on the most sensitive skins. It is made to be absorbed by the skin, repairing and strengthening the bi-layers. I noticed that it removed dirt particles and make-up residues without affecting my skin. I only used a 10p size amount of product and massaged it into my skin, before rinsing it off. For heavy make-up, I did need to repeat this process, but after I did my skin felt wonderfully clean – without any drying or tightening effect.

Next, I was recommended to use the Dermaviduals Prescriptive Serum which is mixed by the clinic who will add specific ingredients to treat your unique skin type or condition. This allows for a higher level of ingredients to treat more serious and extreme skin issues. Mine included Vitamin A to help normalise the skin and also to help the skin exfoliate naturally. The gel-based serum was a treat to use as it was moisturising and soothing and sank into the skin quickly – just what is needed when you want to wear make-up . Each time you require a new serum the needs of your skin can be reviewed and altered allowing your skin care to be truly bespoke.

For a moisturiser I was recommended Dermaviduals Prescriptive High Classic which was selected specifically for my skin. This contained Vitamin C to naturally brighten my skin as well as to protect it from environmental damage. Prescriptive High Classic is biomimetic which means it is made with a complex of ingredients that are highly compatible with the physiology of your skin. It also contains skin caring substances such as phosphatidylcholine, shea butter, ceramide 3, squalene and natural moisturisers. Which helps to strengthen the skin and makes it less prone to a wide range of problems and imbalances. The benefits I spotted is that it combated the occasional dryness I get from time to time. I have only been using it for a few weeks but I can already notice that my skin feels smoother.

The final part of the regime was a sun block. You may think you can get away without a sun block in grey Britain – but the reality is you really can’t. The sun’s rays still cause damage so it vital to wear a sun block.  I was recommended to use Heliocare SPF 50+ Plus Gel, which is without doubt my favorite from all the products. Unlike tradition sun blocks, which can be greasy and heavy – this is a real treat to use. This is made from a lightweight gel texture which sinks into the skin rapidly to provide high strength UVA/UVB protection. This really is a must when you are constantly on the go. It has a lovely fragrance which makes it a pleasure to use, and Chloe told me it is also ideal for use if you’re having laser hair removal or microdermabrasion. It’s a product I know I will order and continue to use again and again.
