Tangerine Dreams
[In burnt orange, Kenzo’s silk kimono dress, £450 from Harrods, is an opulent style for the new season. The dropped shoulders and gathered empire waist allow this dress to fall beautifully around the body. Dress it up with high heels and statement jewellery for cocktail hour.]
Add a bit of zest into your wardrobe with these juicy orange shades. They are a great burst of colour to take you from late summer into autumn and will ensure that as the nights get shorter, you still stand out from the crowd!
Potato, Pancetta, Egg and Cress Salad
This is the perfect comforting salad, the crispy pancetta and eggs give texture and richness to the salad and the cress a crunch. It is a great salad to serve at a barbecue but also I’d serve it for supper with a selection of cold meats – a word of warning though, once you start eating this its very hard to stop!
Sorry Marilyn, Gentleman Don’t Prefer Blondes
A poll of 2,000 UK males by social networking site Badoo looked at the features men find most attractive in the opposite sex with surprising results – blondes were beaten by brunettes.
In fact a third (33.1%) of all those polled said they find brown hair more attractive than blonde (29.5%), black (28.6%) and red (8.8%), contradicting the adage that gentlemen prefer blondes.
Album Review: Hard To Find
[Saint Etienne]
For some reason buying a compilation album doesn’t seem very ‘adult’.
The words bring to mind those brightly coloured Now 79 (*insert number here*) albums you got as a kid at Christmas, teeny R&B discs or those naff woman-themed collections they sell in Asda every Mother’s Day.
However, Hard To Find is the compilation album’s saviour, single-handedly taking its faded image and polishing it up into something shiny and lovely.
The Art Of Nails
Some people only feel properly groomed if they have mascara on, others with a lick of lip gloss, I however don’t feel fully made up unless my nails are manicured and painted in a shiny hue. To this end I have tried many types of semi-permanent nail polishes eventually settling into a long-term relationship with powder gel to ensure the colour I love stays on for a good three weeks. When applied well it was long lasting, didn’t chip or crack and looked good until it was time to refill or remove.
Eric Lanlard’s Apple Mousse Cake
According to a new survey into the baking habits of the nation, nearly 90% of us agree that making cakes is more fun and satisfying than buying them from a shop.
Bag Twilight Bella’s Wedding Dress
The world of film and retail has always been close but now it’s a case of truly being able to buy what you see on screen. While Bella’s wedding dress in the Twilight series is a closely guarded secret at the moment, come November 18 when Breaking Dawn, Part One is released, brides-to-be will be able to buy an exact replica of the Edwardian inspired gown. Alfred Angelo, who is know for his affordable wedding gowns, will be exclusively selling the official replica of the Carolina Herrera dress in his Signature stores in the U.S and independent retailers worldwide.
Go Behind The Scenes Of Harry Potter in London
The UK has been a centre for filming and been a major influence on the industry over the years but to get a flavour of this ourselves we have had to go to Disneyland Paris or head over to Florida to see how the studios make their magic. Well soon we will be able to get a taste of this at home without becoming a runner for a film company.
Album Review: Torches by Foster The People
If you’ve been anywhere near a radio this summer, you’ll have heard Foster The People’s Pumped Up Kicks (hear it below). It’s that sweet, summery dance song that sounds a little like MGMT before they became all alternative and unlistenable.

Belle About Town is for the woman who is time deprived but style rich.
